Project Manager - Energy Tech - EV - Green Investment Group

Join our Green Investment Group as a highly motivated Project Manager within our European e-mobility business to help the Group support the transition to a low carbon, sustainable global economy. This is a London-based role. Initially, you will work in the Energy Technology team supporting the Head of Engineering and the commercial team in the development of the e-mobility business. Ultimately, it is envisaged that this role will transfer into Fleete, a dedicated EV platform business at which point, as Project Manager, you will be responsible for the planning and delivery of high-power electric vehicle (EV) charging and energy infrastructure for both public and private sector B2B clients, across Europe.

Reporting to the Head of Engineering and working closely with the design and commercial team, you will ultimately be responsible for managing high value and high power EV charging infrastructure projects across the UK and Europe, including grid connection upgrades, on-site energy storage and renewable generation. You will assist with ensuring all permissions and approvals are secured (from concept to commissioning), project budget management, supplier/contractor management and on-site health & safety.

In your role as Project Manager, you will interface with wider internal teams, clients, partners and suppliers and will be expected to take a client-centric approach at all times, providing the highest standard of customer care whilst supporting our customers in their transition to EVs, optimising their costs and carbon emissions.

For success in this role, you would have held a position in a similar role managing construction projects, preferably within the energy sector. You will ideally be a project manager with experience of working on high power electrical infrastructure and charging projects. Knowledge of CDM regulations and QHSE management is a key requirement for this role whilst experience of EV charging, battery storage or renewable power generation is highly valued.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Technical qualifications such as BEng (hons), Prince2 or equivalent
  • Good working knowledge of contract conditions, CDM regulations, design management, strong project risk management and cost control including forecasting, actual cost and value reporting
  • Knowledge of the NEC contract including Early Warning and Compensation Event mechanisms
  • Experience of close working relationship with design team, clients and control of contractors
  • The ability to multi-task and deliver multiple projects simultaneously
  • The ability to challenge designs and resolve problems to conclusion
  • Experience ensuring that all installations comply with all current legislative and regulatory requirements
  • Excellent communication and presentations skills
  • Excellent organisation and management skills
  • A driven and positive outlook
  • Genuine interest in being part of delivering the smart, low carbon energy transition and achieving net zero

Ideally, you will have experience of working across European markets and associated language skills are highly regarded.

Transfer within EV Business

We anticipate that in 2022 your employment may transfer to Fleete, the company which has been incorporated to house GIG’s European EV Platform, along with other employees of the Employer who are assigned to that business. Fleete is a charging infrastructure and services provider for operators of electric commercial vehicles. Our turnkey charging-as-a-service model helps customers get their electric fleet on the road and keep them driving, 24/7, 365 days a year. Established by Macquarie’s Green Investment Group, we ensure that the transition to electric fleets is as economic, efficient and easy as possible. The Employer will provide information to you regarding the terms of that transfer in due course.
