The Global Partner Solutions (GPS) team mission is to build and sell intelligent cloud and intelligent edge solutions with partners, empowering people and organizations to achieve more. GPS is a sales organization accountable for the commercial partner business at Microsoft. Building on the GPS mission, the Partner Technology Manager (PTM) plays a critical role in leading a team of Partner Technology Strategists (PTS’) and Cloud Solution Architects (CSA
s) supporting the development, evolution and growth of our world class UK partner ecosystem.

The PTM role is highly strategic – inspiring and supporting partners with strategy and insights on how they can evolve and scale their business leveraging Microsoft technologies across industries and solution areas.

Acting as a strong and vocal evangelist for our partners internally within Microsoft and with our customers.

The PTM, along with his/her team, works in partnership with the Partner Development Managers (PDMs) and our partners to define our partners technical strategy and plan, aligned to the overall partner growth strategy.

The PTM brings deep technical expertise and experiences across solutions, industries and partner types, to create and lead a high-performing team through strong hiring practices, talent retention, as well as coaching and mentoring.

  • Builds a high performing diverse technical team – by attracting, developing and retaining talent. Leverages resources to help employees develop and grow their skills and capabilities aligned to their career development goals; develops a diverse talent pipeline of internal and external candidates that align to the growth competencies and skills required for the team; embeds a culture of high performance, by hiring diverse talent, demonstrating inclusiveness, inspiring a growth mindset, and leading by example.
  • Shares partner & industry insights. Synthesizes business and technology insights – both internal and external to develop recommendations on how to maximise growth opportunities for Microsoft and our partner ecosystem. Understands market trends by staying abreast of latest updates by industry thought leaders such as Gartner, Forrester, IDC, etc.
  • Is a trusted Advisor to our partner ecosystem. Acts as a strategic and trusted advisor for Technical Decision Makers (TDMs) and/or Business Decision Makers (BDM) at all levels within our partners organisations assisting in defining their growth strategy and plan with Microsoft.
  • Acts as advocate and evangelist internally within Microsoft – for our partner ecosystem, and how the differentiated solutions and services they bring to market drive transformational outcomes for our customers and accelerate Microsoft’s growth ambitions.
  • Establishes clarity and builds differentiated value propositions through the team; creating and maintaining a vision with business and technology solution scenarios and services.
  • Solution/Practice/Offer Development Lead - Takes a leadership role in influencing partners to develop groundbreaking and highly advanced solutions using Microsoft technologies that are aligned to Solution Plays priorities; Oversees technical engagements led by team, such as, Envisioning Briefings and Roadmap Planning, and champion ways to innovate and improve productivity. Consults & Drive clarity on the strategic alignment of partners towards Microsoft’s technology priorities and their technical readiness to address solution gaps.
  • Deliver Results Through Teamwork. Drives the execution of priorities by setting priorities, removing barriers and obstacles, and allocating resources.
  • Role Model Microsoft Values. Ensures fair and equal treatment of employees, models compliance, and promotes company policies, procedures, mission, and values.


Required/Minimum Qualifications :

  • Industry Experience. Related experience in technology business solutions development, Cloud / Infrastructure technologies, project management, technical sales, and/or technical account management.
  • Communication and Collaboration. Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, written and presentation skills; Strong executive presence, and the ability to hold TDM and BDM discussions, including CxO level.
  • Attract, Develop and Retain Talent. Experience in mentorship, workforce development, and succession planning; Ability to identify growth opportunities, build development plans with direct reports, and conduct development discussions.
  • Team Leadership – ability to attract and develop high performing teams.
  • Trusted Advisor. Proven track record of building deep sales relationships with CXOs and practice building executives in various partner types such as ISVs, MSPs, and Sis, and advising on solutions and positions Microsoft offerings.
  • Partner & Industry Insights. Deep understanding of digital transformation business drivers, cloud platforms, emerging computing trends and their impact on partner practice building opportunities; Ability to ensure partner is challenged in considering alternatives and adapting new strategies.
  • Strategy Formulation. Understanding of business strategies and outcomes that technology can support, leading the adoption of technologies by plotting the strategic, long-term vision of partners; Ability to anticipate both technical blockers that have potential to arise, as well as envisioning roadmaps on new and groundbreaking capabilities.
  • Ensuring Success. Ability to coach immediate team on developing solutions/offers/practices and value realization across a variety of solution areas; Ability to set timelines and milestones, and track progress toward objectives, as well as push to optimize technology consumption and adoption across the enterprise.
  • Commit to Performance Management. Experience in identifying performance gaps and monitoring performance to ensure business goals are met.
