As a Economic Research Unit Lead, you will be responsible for developing the strategy for the ERU, establishing an agreed vision for the function and growth of the team which will support the Cost Intelligence Team's wider goals and client engagement strategy.

You will also be responsible for the establishment of proprietary MM-owned measures of inflation for each sector, to be used in business development and thought leadership pieces. These will be used in publications which the ERU will also produce.

What you will contribute to the team:

  • Support development and delivery of client outcome, growth and financial targets within sector specific Business Development Plans.
  • Line-management responsibility for Economic Research Unit practitioners.
  • Lead production of ERU publications.
  • Liaise with systems team to ensure that data is gathered, normalised, analysed and made into a commodity.
  • Use the ERU services, publications, and team expertise to open Cost Intelligence opportunities with clients, acting as a pathfinder to sell our wider services.

Required for the position of Economic Research Unit Lead:

  • ​An experienced professional within the Cost Intelligence sphere
  • ACostE/MRICS/MCIOB chartered/qualified or working towards
  • In-depth understanding of indexation and inflation, escalation clauses in contracts and the management of inflation and procurement risk
  • In-depth understanding of data normalisation
  • Preferred But Not Required:
  • Appreciation of the challenges faced by our clients, their desired outcomes, and the market forces which influence them
  • Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with clients and colleagues
  • Ability to articulate complex detail in a concise and focussed manner.

The Advisory and Programme Delivery (APD) unit delivers management services in all the sectors that Mott MacDonald operate in the Built Environment, Defence, Energy, Water, Transportation and, Education, Health and Care.

The Unit delivers services to projects ranging in scale and complexity up to £20bn, through the technical disciplines of Programme Management, Project Management, Project Controls, Scheduling, Cost Management, Estimating, Infrastructure Finance, Management Consulting, Digital Consulting and Education, Health and Care Management.
