What will you be doing as our new Senior Design Manager (WRMP)?

As our new Senior Design Manager, you'll be fully responsible for all aspects of design for assigned projects, including managing resource and engineering outputs. You'll lead and develop your engineering design team, whilst embracing and progressing the benefits of hybrid-working.

Working collaboratively with the Senior General Managers you'll deliver a secured Water Resource Management Plan sub-programme alongside working with the Head of Engineering and Senior Design Mangers to develop engineering design strategies for AMP 8 and beyond. You'll establish new ways of working to reduce carbon and increase biodiversity and embrace innovations and new digital technologies.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the design delivery for the Water Resource Management Plan sub-programme and support the Design Managers to deliver designs in accordance with the @one Alliance procedures and project needs.

  • Working with the Utility Lead to deliver proactive and efficient utility management services, for support of the design and construction teams, including investigating utility issues, learning from incidents, and implementing new technologies.

  • Collaborate with the Senior Design Managers for Engineering to maintain a consistent quality of engineering outputs and ensure that all design is delivered on a right first-time philosophy, to the correct standards and specifications.

  • Ensure that your engineering team is working efficiently and producing design deliverables suitable for the end-user, with consideration of health & safety, construction, procurement, the customer, and Anglian Water operations.

  • Develop strong design control behaviours and processes within your team, to achieve time and cost requirements, including ensuring that the change control process and technical query process are adhered to.

  • Fulfil the role and responsibilities of the CDM Principal Designer for the Infrastructure Sub-Programme, including delegating duties, when appropriate. Whilst developing and managing CDM competency assessments for your team and projects.

  • Drive excellence in Health and Safety in design. Ensure design risk assessments are completed to eliminate hazards and reduce risks and convey residual risk information to end users via the pre-construction information, in accordance with the Alliance's CDM procedures.
