The Mott MacDonald Rail Division is growing strongly in a buoyant Rail Sector market. In order to achieve its growth potential the Division is actively seeking a Bid Manager to manage and coordinate the production of multi-disciplinary bids in response to industry Invitations to Tender.

The role will suit an individual who has a passion for understanding client requirements (as defined in their ITT documents) and the pulling together of a winning bid. They will have a talent for determining :-
* What are the key requirements of the ITT
* What is a winning strategy
* Coordinating the production of a winning price
* What are the required specialist inputs
* A time line for the delivery of the bid documents

The responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to:
* Leadership of nominated responses to ITTs
* Management of a small team of bid writers
* Support and/or lead proposal preparation
* Maintaining a library of bid material
* Maintaining a library of generic cost information to assist in bid pricing

Candidate Specification :
You'll have the following skills and experience as a minimum for this opportunity, including good understanding of the UK Rail sector as well as:
  • Proven ability to manage the pulling together of multidisciplinary UK Rail sector bids
  • Proven track record of winning profitable work
  • Experience of planning and managing bids, ability to identify alternative offers
  • Be able to lead bid preparation and review meetings to ensure responses to bid questions are optimised.
  • Ensure tasks are effectively managed and an agreed timeframe identified with appropriate key milestones
  • Be able to provide written content to bid responses (PQQ, ITT, supplier questionnaires), utilising effective creative writing skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work under the time pressure associated with bid timescales
  • Good commercial acumen and ability to identify areas of commercial opportunity or particular difficulty within an ITT that need early attention
  • Chartered Engineer or equivalent
