Group Ethics & Compliance Manager

As a member of the Group Legal Department, the role reports directly to the Group Senior Ethics & Compliance Manager (GSECM) and via the Group General Counsel to the Executive Board. This role will offer support to the GSECM managing the development, effective implementation and maintenance of the global structures comprising the new E&C programme within Mott MacDonald.

Working closely with the Group Senior Ethics & Compliance Manager (GSECM), Group/Regional Legal and E&C teams and other business teams to:

  • Assist in designing, building, enhancing and maintaining the Mott MacDonald Group E&C Programme;
  • Design, implement and maintain group wide E&C systems (eg: conflicts of interest, annual certification, gifts/entertainment registers etc);
  • Support risk leads, GSECM and business leads in identifying, assessing and managing E&C risks;
  • Support compliance monitoring reviews and investigations into E&C matters as required;
  • Design, implement and maintain a group wide E&C communications plan;
  • Working with HR and Learning & Development design and implement a risk-based E&C training programme including induction, annual and ongoing training requirements for all employees and where appropriate third parties;
  • Supporting the GSECM to maintain the group wide Speak Up process and to support the co-ordination of investigations where necessary;
  • Conduct investigations arising from Speak Up cases including employee misconduct, fraud, bribery, and other violations of Our Code;
  • Respond to questions arising from our Due Diligence process including technical and administrative issues with the platform, and risk assessments of counterparties;
  • Manage the coordination and flow of all E&C management information through reporting across all E&C matters and teams up to and including the Executive Board;
  • Deputise for the GSECM as appropriate;

Required for the position of Global Ethics & Compliance Manager;

  • Proven track record and experience in developing and overseeing an E&C programme;
  • Experience of working within an Enterprise Risk Management Framework and conducting compliance monitoring/controls testing;
  • Good working knowledge of global laws and regulations relating to E&C risks including bribery, fraud, AML, competition, export controls and trade sanctions;
  • Experience in advising on E&C matters preferably within a large multinational organisation, alternatively within public sector/advisory/regulatory environment with a broad range of business activities;
  • Experience of working in a multinational corporation at Global or Regional HQ level;
  • Good understanding of external regulatory requirements and liaising/managing external expectations;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a strong detail and analytical skills and the ability to identify and explain complex compliance requirements and convey difficult messages to all stakeholders;
  • Handles confidential information with discretion; and a strong commitment to uphold ethical standards and maintaining professional integrity;
  • Can assimilate and interpret information quickly; and explain complex legal, regulatory and policy requirements to colleagues without using confusing technical or legal jargon;
  • Can manage a large and varied workload, take decisions on own initiative and meet challenging deadlines (whilst manging the expectations of others);
  • You have excellent IT and administrative skills (including extensive experience of using Word, SharePoint, Excel, PowerBI and other Microsoft applications)
