JOB AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Enterprise Analytics and Data team has the ambition to transform Philip Morris into a company where decision-making process is driven by data. As part of this team, we are looking for a Senior Data Architect (Manufacturing) who is highly experienced within the Operations domain focusing primarily on the manufacturing side.

The day-to-day responsibilities are to be carried out against the backdrop of a cloud-based Business Intelligence data and analytics platform supported by state-of-the-art technologies (AWS, Wherescape, Snowflake) and methodologies (Data Vault 2.0, SAFe, Scrum) enabling key transformation initiatives; therefore a sound technology background is imperative.

We are looking for an innovative thinker, with a track record of driving change using data architecture to align with the evolving needs of our internal stakeholders as well as partnering with the wider organization to shape and disrupt markets through adoption and innovation of cloud technologies.

This role requires an individual with personal drive, a desire to roll up their sleeves and make things happen; an individual with exceptional attention to detail who is highly resilient, thrives in a fast-paced and high-profile environment while leading through ambiguity to address complex and large challenges while applying domain focus.

Senior Data Architects work hand in hand with multiple stakeholders as part of scrum teams to help design data models and make design recommendations that support the needs of other data specialties such as the governance and management streams. They act as trusted partners and advisors at the crossroads of business and technology and engage with program stakeholders at all stages of the design and implementation phases. Data Architects are also responsible for creating and presenting technical content and sharing best practices, making recommendations on design that impacts security, cost, performance, reliability and operational efficiency. They work to understand the customer's needs and give prescriptive guidance on how to create the appropriate data structures that are deployed on AWS technology. Data Architects will also lead activities such as architecture reviews, white-boarding sessions, demos and technical workshops. They collaborate with other teams to ensure optimal outcomes for the project/program.

Role and Responsibilities:
  • Work directly with project teams to accelerate their challenging, mission-critical projects and recommend best-practice data architectures in line with their long-term business outcomes
  • Build relationships with customers and operate as their trusted advisor. The best interests of the customer will shape the guidance you provide.
  • Share the voice of the customer to inform the roadmap of the operations data domain.
  • Participate in the creation and sharing of best practices, technical content and new reference architectures (e.g. white papers, code samples, blog posts).
  • Evangelize and educate about data architecture (e.g. through workshops, user groups, meetups, public speaking, online videos or conferences).
  • Support creation of Business Case for submission at budgets and spend reviews in cognizance of financial and timescale limitations vis-à-vis domain data models and data architecture roadmap
  • Support Benefits realization assessments & post-implementation reviews of projects vis-à-vis BPM
  • Ensure alignment and close cooperation with the business and IT functions including the Data Governance organization to ensure compliance and adherence of business processes to PMI technology and governance standards.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • Technical Degree (Computer Science, Maths, Engineering or equivalent) and/or relevant tech experience.
  • Language: Fluent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Experience of Software, Systems and Data Modeling Design (Inmon, Kimball, Data Vault)
  • Knowledge of a modern programming language (Python, JavaScript, Go, .Net, Java, etc.)
  • Knowledge of modeling tools such as Power Designer or ER Studio.
  • Knowledge of the core dimensions that underpin the manufacturing data landscape

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Working knowledge of cloud native architectures.
  • Working knowledge of designing data models in a technology domain such as distributed internet-scale web or mobile applications, Big Data, analytics, Machine Learning, enterprise workloads (SAP, VMware, Windows etc.), high-performance databases (SQL and/or NoSQL), complex networking implementations, highly secured workloads etc.
  • Understanding of the Manufacturing IT ecosystem (system integrators, software vendors, customer trends).
  • Experience working in a customer-facing role.
  • AWS certification (e.g. AWS Solutions Architect Associate or Professional).
