For our Design team in London (UK) we are therefore looking for a Head of Visual Merchandising Design.

The overall purpose of this position will be to lead a multidisciplinary in-house VM design team and a global pool of creative partners/agencies from concept/big ideas to detailed designs.

You will:
Drive the creative process both, internally and with external design agency and/or design consultants, and it is accountable for the delivery of compelling solutions answering channel &brand needs.

Drives design concept, refinement, and development of the global identity, across formats (incl. the expression for restricted markets); accountability goes from creative concept to full development. This includes very tight coordination & collaboration with global suppliers.

Directly oversee design adaptation for key locations (both, direct & indirect), in close partnership with the Retail Deployment team

Establish and maintain very tight partnership with both Brand and the Omnichannel Brand Retail Deployment teams

Translate CX desired outcome, channel business & brand strategy, and strong consumer-centricity into compelling VM design solutions.

Support the Global Head in sourcing, onboarding and curating a pool of key retail design partners and providers at international level (eg. architects, designers, experts) able to support the design development and continuous improvement.

Support the Global Head in budget & resource management (internal & external), and annual budgeting processes for all that concerns store design.

Deliver creative solutions for all in-store executions (Brand Campaigns / Limited Edition launches / Product launches / Seasonal Campaigns / Event Support / transient and permanent VM systems): on-time, on-budget, on-strategy, on-brand.

Design thought-leadership: creatively pushing the boundaries of VM with an eye for the latest standards & trends in VM design; you are at the forefront of both, continuous improvement as well as the more disruptive innovation programs

We’re looking for someone with:

  • BA/BS and/or MA/MS in design or relevant design field. Additional business / humanistic degrees and qualifications are a plus (eg. design school+ MBA / design school+design master / design + psychology, etc.)
  • Strong design experience (corporate / consultancy), with proven success cases in the market.
  • Sound experience with direct people & creative talent management (both, in-house teams, and external creative partners), incl. performance reviews, coaching, mentoring, managing, objective setting, etc.
  • Highly refined design sensitivity and attention for details, paired with the ability to deeply understand Channel business strategy and Brand frameworks
  • Experienced in VM concept design across direct and indirect formats (from smallest corners to flagship)
  • Experienced in VM design development, and how to design to target (cost / business & brand strategy)
  • Is knowledgeable in how to use data to inform the design solutions proposed, as well as their continuous improvement.
  • Knowledge of industry standard design tools (2D/3D visualizing, etc.), including prototyping and means to bring work to life.
  • A great communicator who has the ability to rally people verbally and visually with thoughtful design rationale, data & insights
  • An exceptional advocate of partnership and collaboration across the organization, a true people-person
  • A person who isn’t afraid of corporate complexity, with proven ability to land solutions in complex stakeholder landscape.
  • Strong drive and resilience, a natural problem solver.
  • Proficient with budget & resource management (internal & external), and annual budgeting processes.
  • Experience in senior level stakeholder management
