As a L1 Cloud Database Engineer, you will be responsible for ongoing database support for our customers including (but not limited to) capacity planning, performance tuning, backup and restore operations

As Cloud Database Engineer, you'll be responsible for:

  • Assisting with migrating legacy databases and data to the cloud for our customers (including but not limited to on-premises relational databases SQL Server and Oracle)
  • Documenting, maintaining, and implementing database standards and practices
  • Collaborating with Infrastructure and Applications teams on efforts to improve database security, performance, and availability
  • Assisting with performing database capacity and usage planning
  • Ensuring all migration related incidents are recorded timely, accurately, and prioritised
  • Helping to resolve incidents, issues, and problems in a timely manner and within given SLA's

What we need from you

  • Some coding and development experience using SQL and PL/SQL languages
  • Experience with Azure services (networking, VM, Storage, Data Migration Assistant and ARM templates etc.)
  • Ability to work independently and in an Agile team environment
  • Engineering, administering, and managing multiple relational databases (Oracle, SQL Server)
  • Hands-on experience with one or more of the following is also beneficial. MySQL, MariaDB, PostgreSQL
  • Exposure to AWS and GCP database services

Please note, you'll be put through SC clearance upon hire, so you'll need to possess either an existing SC clearance or be willing and eligible to undergo the vetting for such clearance.
