About the role

News editing for Telegraph Sport, this role is Digital First but works for both print and online as part of a flexible rota that will involve some evenings and weekends.

You will be a superb responsive commissioner, reacting sharply to breaking news and live events. But you will also think ahead and develop stories.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leads and manages news output from Telegraph Sport.
  • Drives the news agenda day to day and over the longer term.
  • Represents the department at meetings internally and presents at conference
  • Speaks to and manages Telegraph Sport's team of news reporters.

Requirements

  • Experience of news editing within a fast-moving, editorially driven department, including managing a team and displaying confidence in liaising with reporters.
  • Strong news sense and judgement and track record of generating exclusive content.
  • Able to respond well under pressure and adhere to strict deadlines.
  • Broad knowledge of a wide variety of sport, particularly football, rugby union and cricket.
  • Understanding of social media and data.
