Business Development Improvement Project Manager

Description of role:

TWI are a membership-based organisation, supporting companies across the world with authoritative and impartial expert advice, knowhow and safety assurance through engineering, materials and joining technologies – helping its Members design, create and operate the best products possible.

The sales of testing, consulting and R&D projects to individual TWI Members have grown modestly over the last five years. However, the Company has set down its ambition for that growth to accelerate by 50% over the next five years. To achieve this, a wide range of transformation projects have been defined and are being developed. What is needed now is a Senior Projects Manager to coordinate multiple teams across a programme of a dozen projects, to implement the ideas and improvements developed. Projects include, for instance:

  • Setting up six virtual sector teams operating focused campaigns to promote TWIs unique capabilities into the nuclear, aerospace, space, defence & energy sectors.
  • Developing new ways to better engage TWIs Members through greater quantity & quality of Key Account relationships to deliver improved brand & offering awareness
  • Establishing an outstanding bid writing team to increase the quality & production rate of bids to keep up with more opportunities being generated

We are seeking candidates with an engineering or business degree able to appreciate the range of technologies we develop and the benefits they bring to our Members. The right person will be able to deliver multiple projects at one time, relying on their interpersonal & networking skills, and a keen skill be able to prioritise in a fast moving environment that requires mental and professional agility. They will need also to be commercially astute with a clear understanding of the business development process and how high performing teams work.

Travel:

This position may require regular travel in the UK.

If this position is to be based in our Middlesbrough office it will part of an initiative known as Centre for Materials Integrity which is part funded by the Tees Valley Combined Authority (TVCA) and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
