Reporting to the Manufacturing Services Manager, our Chemistry function, within our in-house manufacturing team, is looking to add a Senior Research Associate to our team in Eugene, OR. This person will contribute to the synthesis, QC testing, and packaging of our existing biochemical products. Majority of the work will be done in a laboratory setting requiring the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) which will be provided.

The role involves:

  • Performing documented organic synthesis manufacturing processes according to SOPs
  • Using analytical chemistry methods to evaluate the purity and quality of compounds.
  • Comply with Good Documentation Practices for routine and troubleshooting of multi-step syntheses.
  • Comply with Abcam's Global Quality Standards.
  • May be required to perform other duties as required/assigned

Work Environment:

  • Lab setting (80%)
  • Office setting (20%)
  • BSL2 Lab

Qualifications

You have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in chemistry, biochemistry, bioengineering, biology or a related field with experience in modern organic chemical synthesis, low and medium pressure liquid chromatography purification, thin-layer chromatography, crystallization, fluorescence, and UV analysis methods.

You have demonstrated experience with a variety of chemical synthesis-related lab equipment and have experience in either an academic or industrial lab setting. You possess excellent computer skills, including instrumentation specific software, and are proficient with Microsoft Office suite. You display manual dexterity required to operate lab equipment and are okay with prolonged stints of standing/sitting. You can thrive in a fast-paced environment and are detail-oriented with excellent communication and organizational skills.
