What will you be doing in this role?

  • Excellent knowledge of writing principles, English grammar, and spelling to create, edit, and/or proofread professional-quality publications that effectively communicate with the chosen audience
  • Strong knowledge in the design and development of instructional materials, incorporating adult learning principles
  • Experience conducting needs analysis, writing instructional objectives, creating blended learning solutions, incorporating learning object methodology, and integrating measurement standards
  • Working knowledge of media file formats, standards, and best practices for web presentation (Preferred)
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communications skills to effectively interact with internal customers by facilitating meetings and providing relevant feedback and input to topic or concern being discussed/reviewed
  • Strong proven project management skills and ability to meet project quality expectations within schedule and budget
  • Strong service focus in anticipating client needs where possible, managing complex client relationships, promoting a high-impact service culture by consulting and involving all key stakeholders
  • HTML 5, SCORM 1.2 and 2004, JavaScript (Required)
  • Adobe Photoshop
  • Captivate, Lectora, Articulate Storyline 1 & 2 (Proficiency in at least 2 required)
  • LMS administration (Preferred)
  • Microsoft Excel and Powerpoint: Advanced skillset
  • Microsoft Word: Advanced skillset

Education & Experience Required

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Three - Five years of relevant professional experience in instructional design and analysis
  • Training design- creating, customizing and working from open space related to finding the right solution to engage and improve business performance
  • Media development, publishing and content management; conducting classroom learning sessions, seminars and workshops

Or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for course design, development and the maintenance of training and communication for Sales training; perform needs and task analysis, scope projects, and evaluate existing documentation to identify the most appropriate training approach and content to meet the learning needs of Aflac associates nationwide
  • Work closely with colleagues and subject matter experts across functional areas including senior management to develop effective content and course design
    • Applies knowledge of adult learning theory to design and develop creative learner-centered, performance-based training programs, modules, and materials in multiple modalities including synchronous and asynchronous remote learning methodologies, blended classroom learning, interactive e-learning modules, videos, device learning labs, job aids, facilitator guides, and auxiliary practice, review, and resource materials
  • Researches and keeps abreast of evolving instructional design standards and innovations in the industry
  • Performs content audits, gap analysis, content style guides, and content migration plans
  • Works with broad latitude to facilitate the design, creation and implementation of learning and development activities and production of communication products for the division; creates layout design using appropriate software; writes material including but not limited to, internal/external announcements, proposals, technical and administrative publications, system/product/process documentation, project plans and proposals, training manuals, training modules, etc.; devises and implements procedures that ensure accurate and timely communication, documentation, and archiving of information; tracks and analyzes response rates to communications
  • Conducts in-depth needs assessment to identify learning and performance objectives, build competency mapping, and to determine training solutions and other performance enhancement solutions (e.g., management reinforcement, rewards, role clarity, job aids, etc.
  • Analyze, gather, and document training requirements to identify curriculum objectives and desired outcomes; stays abreast of overall department activities and projects with a proven ability to meet project deadlines
  • Prepares and reviews appropriate relevant materials to ensure that all communications are routed through the appropriate channels for review and approval before going live online; coordinates the production of assigned materials; accepts source documents and creates documentation in the desired format; controls distribution of documentation as authorized (such as proposals, training manuals, statistical reports, memos, brochures, project scope documents, procedures, policy manuals, new letters, and presentations)
  • Supports organizational standards for instructional design and promotes them through a governance model
  • Designs evaluation strategies and tools to determine whether desired learning and performance outcomes are achieved
  • Acts as SME for various learning products and content development tools; recommend and manage external vendor resources for instructional design projects
  • Collaborates with key stakeholders to define course development guidelines; interfaces with business subject matter experts for content validity to achieve desired outcomes;
  • Performs other duties as assigned

This compensation range is specific to the job level and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to: education, experience, licensure, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity. The range has been created in good faith based on information known to Aflac at the time of the posting. Compensation decisions are dependent on the circumstances of each case. This salary range does not include any potential incentive pay or benefits, however, such information will be provided separately when appropriate. The salary range for this position is $55,000 - $140,000.
