We are seeking an electrical engineering technical leader with experience in camera development to help build the future Meraki Vision (MV) hardware.

Our Hardware Program Managers lead multiple products and control every aspect of creation. They are the principal architects of our hardware products and will touch each part of a program by guiding decisions in industrial design, sourcing, manufacturing, test development, packaging, detailed design, and much more. From green light to sustaining hand-off, nothing escapes the HWPM’s sphere of influence and responsibility.

You Will

  • Develop architecture, author PRDs, and lead RFQs for our new Smart Camera portfolio.
  • Validate and iterate on layout and schematics. Drive vendor approvals.
  • Build and track product schedule through NPI, coordinating with ME, sourcing, packaging, certification, and quality teams. Provide technical guidance as needed.
  • Lead our manufacturing partner’s engineering, PM, and manufacturing teams
  • Interface and collaborate with firmware resources
  • Develop test plans, manufacturing SOPs, and quality processes.
  • Work with product management, supply chain, and marketing to coordinate launch plans.
  • Collaborate with quality and sourcing through sustaining production. Lead FA as required.

Example Projects

  • An NPI build is scheduled to begin in a week, but the manufacturing team has found a critical issue with one of the assembly jigs. The HWPM decides it's best to visit the JDM for some in-person brainstorming. There, the HWPM uncovers issues with factory line SOP implementation and outdated test criteria. By the end of the trip, a month's worth of issues have been solved, the build is successfully completed, and the schedule is maintained.
  • A power test reveals poor efficiency in a DCDC converter used for a primary voltage rail. The HWPM works with the Meraki sourcing team to meet the power device vendor and finds that a newer, cheaper, and more efficient part is about to be released. The HWPM kicks off design updates while the sourcing team member arranges enough sample parts for the next build. During new design testing, efficiency is improved and additional thermal headroom is gained.
  • Mockups for a new camera model are showing IR light reflecting off of a cosmetic design feature back into the lens and causing degraded image quality. The HWPM meets with the ID team to define which cosmetic aspects are most important and sketches out a few ideas to address the issue. Together, the group brainstorms a few variations on the idea to try. Mockups are built and tested to find successful elimination of the IR reflection, and the new design is updated for the next NPI build.

You Have

  • Experience with camera technologies and/or hardware products.
  • Experience working with Asia-based manufacturers.
  • Experience in a hardware-related role.
  • BS and/or MS in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Able to travel up to 20% to Taiwan and China.
  • End-to-end product development on at least one product of reasonable complexity - the more, the better!

Nice to Have

  • Experience with CMOS image sensor operation and tuning.
  • Knowledgeable with lens selection and qualification.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes and build management.
  • Technical program management experience
  • Cultural competence and understanding of Taiwanese and Chinese cultures.
