About the role

We're looking for a software build and release engineer (typically 2-4 years of experience) to join the Network Access team, which is responsible for multiple systems that support sophisticated authentication and network policy enforcement services. You'll collaborate to build and manage continuous integration and deploy pipelines, monitoring and alerting systems and remote debugging flows to support well-used existing features and new innovations for Meraki customers and their network users.

What you will do:

Develop deployment pipelines and monitoring systems for backend services and infrastructure that enable internet access for millions of people and devices around the globe.

Orchestrate critical security upgrades across multiple environments for containerized services.

Collaborate with globally distributed teams on projects that span numerous domains -- networking, databases, web app development

Make an immediate and significant difference to the hundreds of millions of users who rely on our services for internet access every single day.

Here are some projects that the Network Access team is working on:

Refactoring frameworks/libraries and creating an internal API with a simple, unified interface for other developers to work with access policies.

Scaling up our backend services to handle 10x the load they can today. You could help us rethink the way we do sharding and load-balancing and make our infrastructure elastic.

Ensuring data consistency across our full stack – 1) Meraki devices, 2) backend data services and 3) Meraki Dashboard web application. It’s like a large distributed storage system that supports our global customer base.

Introducing extensive code quality metrics and standards as well as defining service level expectations for our services.

Building CI/CD pipelines for shift left engineering practices

Developing dashboards for high level monitoring and detailed debugging of critical services

Managing patches and upgrades to ensure industry-leading security levels across our services

inventing change management workflows that enable rapid development in secure environments

About you

You like being on the cutting edge and drive adoption of best practices across the team.

Have a focused, organized approach to design, implementation, testing, and quality.

You focus on reliability while delivering impact.

Know your way around at least one of the systems we use: Terraform, Ansible, Docker, Gitlab, CVE management, ELK stack, Grafana. You embrace the idea of being language-agnostic.

Experience in some form of service delivery at scale.

Excellent communication skills (our team is distributed across several time zones).

Bonus points for:

Interest in general security and/or data privacy and/or zero-trust networks is a plus.

You’re excited about solving scalability challenges both on the organisational and technology levels.

Personal projects or contributions to open-source.

Mentorship or leadership experience.

Compensation Range:
$103,200$199,100 USD
