Job Description

The VP, Application Development - DSL, serves as the point of contact, business interface and partner with appropriate business leaders to understand business goals; be able to anticipate business needs and proactively and provide solutions as those needs arise. Leads three teams consisting of: ESQM (Software testing), Corp Services (Partnering with HR, Finance, Legal, etc.) and EPMO (Enterprise Project Management Office). These teams will consist of Application Developers, Project Managers/Agile Coaches, Testing Support and Quality Assurance staff, numerous full-time employees, and various Contractor/consulting/vendor staff.

Responsibilities:

  • Engaging with internal and external business partners to refine requirements and strategies and lead the team to deliver and support technology solutions to meet the business goals.

  • Working with peer technology leaders providing input and leadership on the evolution of the technology strategy.

  • Working effectively with business leaders to understand and support business imperatives and partner with them to develop, deploy and support IT solutions that maximize business value.

  • Working effectively with peers to ensure that both business needs and Business Technology objectives, performance metrics, quality measures, and budget targets are achieved.

  • Demonstrating the ability to effectively translate strategic business objectives into tactical IT plans, to deliver on those plans in a cost-effective manner, and to provide solutions.

  • Demonstrating the ability to use information security best practices in external and internal applications as a preventative measure.

  • Continuously improving the application delivery practices, process and tools, driving further adoption of Agile, Continuous Integration/Delivery, DevOps, and Lean IT practices within the department.

  • Develop leadership and technical talent across the department, not just direct reports.

  • Build strong, highly productive, and cohesive teams by your own contribution, professionalism and leadership, building the leadership and management potential while managing the succession planning for the department.

  • Establishing the managing department budget, including employee labor, contractor, offshore resources budgets, headcount trends, etc.

  • Maintaining systems in a highly transactional environment ensuring all applications are running current, and highly available.

  • Lead and support all internal audit and compliance issues.

  • Serve as the liaison, and POC to the outside technical vendor community who support us.

  • Lead in a dynamic, fast paced, highly regulated, constantly changing Enterprise environment.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or Engineering required.

  • Master’s degree in Business, Information Technology or Engineering preferred.

  • 10+ years of experience in application development, computer systems, software development, programming, or platform development required.

  • 12+ years of experience in application development, computer systems, software development, programming, or platform development preferred.

  • In lieu of degree, 12+ years of experience in application development, computer systems, software development, programming, or platform development required.
