Job Description

The Director, Cybersecurity Acceleration & Enablement will be part of the Information Security Organization in Discover and will have the opportunity to provide thought leadership in Cybersecurity and risk management in the areas of data security, secure software development, application and data security pipelines, testing practices, and product security. This role will lead a talented and experienced team of information security professionals across the entire application stack, closer to the business, to minimize the drag on development and maintenance for traditional as well as hybrid Cloud architecture applications. In this role, the leader will develop, drive and support business enabling capabilities such as data security, security analytics, platform, container, and API security.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with stakeholders across the company, from infrastructure and product leadership to business partners and stakeholders to identify and implement capabilities and processes required to advance program effectiveness across the enterprise.

  • As a trusted advisor, coordinate and execute proactive Information Security consulting to the business and technology teams.

  • Drive innovation activity as an outcome; partner extensively with other Cyber and Technology organizations such as Security Engineering, to derive solutions enabling industry leading products.

  • Effectively communicate with various audiences, including technical and executive leadership teams.

  • Build, manage, mentor and provide leadership to a team of seasoned and highly skilled personnel. Deliver work-class cybersecurity program roadmaps, including well-crafted plans, specific and achievable objectives and appropriate reporting and metrics.

  • Drive the development and implementation of standard security review processes that result in effective methods for reducing security risks and eliminating vulnerabilities before production releases.

  • Pioneers consistent and efficient cybersecurity risk treatment by applying best practices in technology and processes across Discover.

  • Oversees regulatory, audit, assurance, risk reporting and/or industry compliance. Provides continual and meaningful reporting to all levels of management that enhances the leadership view of risk, performance, and overall results.

  • Manages complex cross-functional cybersecurity engagements to achieve shared goals. Advises management and executives on cybersecurity initiatives, status and gaps, direction and resource investments, and design appropriate road map/charger to manage cybersecurity risk. Stays informed on evolving threats, peer discussions, new vendor solutions and industry trends to continually advance the cybersecurity program.

  • Articulates the cybersecurity plans, direction and risk to regulators, auditors and/or law department.

  • Establishes oversight process to assure complete transparency into risks identified and progress toward remediation by departments who have ownership and remediation responsibility. Promotes focus on the expanding cybersecurity framework and comprehensive assessments.

  • Enables and supports diversity and professional development of management and team members.

  • Focus on crisis management skills and ability to manage relationships and communication channels.

  • Extensive and direct experience in high-pressure situations managing and responding to complex technical cybersecurity incidents.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Technology or Engineering.

  • Master’s degree in Business, Information Technology or Engineering preferred.

  • Minimum 10+ years of combined experience in Infrastructure Management, Application Development, Application Security, Product and platform security, data security, secure design principles and methodology.

  • In Lieu of degree, 12+ years of cybersecurity operations, incident response, and security analytics experience.
