Machine Learning Scientist III, NLP

Are you passionate about using Data Science and Machine-Learning (ML) techniques to improve Traveler Experience? Our Marketing Content Data Science team focuses on generating and optimizing content to deliver relevant experiences to travelers and value to our business.

We are looking for a self-motivated and independent individual who will have end to end ownership over driving impact to Expedia’s largest Marketing channels. With ample access to the latest technology this could be an exciting position for someone who loves to explore and deeply understand applications of machine learning!

What you’ll do:

  • Implement machine learning and statistical models, compute massive volumes of data, and build prototypes

  • Discover and define your own work – Research and develop new content (Text & Image) opportunities with large business impact

  • Use a variety of testing methods (A/B, multi-variate, factorial design, stratified sampling) to measure the impact of ongoing campaigns and new initiatives

  • Build positive relationships, drive decisions and progress with Machine Learning, Marketing, and Engineering teams, and communicate findings to executives and partners

  • Contribute to team success; collaborate with other ML teams in Expedia

Who you are:

  • Bachelor’s in statistics or in a related quantitative field; or equivalent related professional experience

  • Master’s Degree or PhD preferred in a related field, or equivalent related professional experience

  • Strong working knowledge in at least one programming language associated with data science (Python, Java, R)

  • Strong background in ML techniques such as Bayesian Methods, Clustering, Decision Trees, Latent Dirichlet Allocation, Linear and Non-Linear Programming, NER, Random Forests, etc.

  • Experience in applying NLP techniques at work and generating large business value

  • Accustomed to collaborative, fun work environment
