Division Overview

Hubbell Power Systems (HPS) engages in the design and manufacture of a wide variety of products used by utilities. Today, HPS is deeply engaged in product solutions for OSP Communication utility purposes, and has been actively growing that segment of the business. HPS roots have historically been in high voltage transmission, distribution, substation, underground products used by electric utilities. HPS products are also used in the civil construction, transportation, gas and water industries.

Position Overview

The general purpose of this role is to support the application of a web-based Enterprise Mobile Workforce Management platform, ProField, to large smart metering deployment projects for electric, water and gas utilities.

ProField covers every aspect of field force management. Its feature-rich modules include asset management, training and certification, real-time, remote management of field operations, fault resistant workflows, quality assurance, and real-time reporting.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Understand the customer’s requirements and project scope.
  • Engage with customers to refine specifications; lead technical workshops at customer locations.
  • Turn meetings with clients into requirement documents and functional designs that are efficiently communicated to the internal and external organizations.
  • Develop the solutions, including work instructions, flow charts (Visio) and Wireframe diagrams (Balsamic).
  • Conduct walk-through of the solution to field operations and software development team.
  • Ensure that the Aclara’s WOMS (Work Order Management System) customization conforms to the requirements document.
  • Conduct UAT (User Acceptance Testing) & coordinate SIT (System Integration Testing) with the client for the project.
  • Coordinate with the software and field operations team for the project to go live.
  • Monitor field deployment of software and propose improvements to boost productivity and quality.
  • Serve as a technical expert in evaluating design alternatives and recommending solutions for future product and process enhancements.

Skills and Experience


  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in electrical or industrial engineering, computer science or related technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working as a Solutions Architect, Business Analyst, or similar position tasked with the duties & responsibilities listed above.
  • Previous experience in the utilities space strongly preferred, especially with smart grid/smart metering.
  • Experience using Visio and Balsamiq or similar workflow and wireframing tools essential.
  • Knowledge of .NET platform and popular mobile platforms such as Android, iOS, and Windows Mobile
  • Experience with multi-language software products.
  • Naturally structured thinker.
  • Ability to conceptualize efficient, fault-resistant work processes.


  • Experience with enterprise-level 3rd party vendors and CIS applications (SAP, NISC, Oracle CC&B or similar)

Physical Demand:

  • Ability to travel 25%-50% via ground or air.
  • Normal office activities.
