Division Overview

Hubbell Power Systems (HPS) engages in the design and manufacture of a wide variety of products used by utilities. Today, HPS is deeply engaged in product solutions for OSP Communication utility purposes, and has been actively growing that segment of the business. HPS roots have historically been in high voltage transmission, distribution, substation, underground products used by electric utilities. HPS products are also used in the civil construction, transportation, gas and water industries.

Position Overview


We are seeking a Production Superintendent to join our team!

The Production Superintendent will be part of a growing and diverse team during a time of transition. As part of a recent acquisition, the Chatsworth facility is experiencing exciting growth. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. The Production Superintendent will act as the senior leader on 2nd Shift. This person will provide leadership and be responsible for all aspects of the operation on 2nd Shift including personnel, and productivity. The Superintendent will manage and develop the Supervisor team in a fast-paced environment with a commitment to process improvement in areas of Safety, Quality, and overall Productivity.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage and direct overall operations on 2nd Shift including all Production Supervisors on that shift.
  • Drive teamwork and maintain excellent working relationships with all employees/functions. Consistently maintain open communication and encourage employee involvement.
  • Ensure the maintenance of good housekeeping and a safe working environment while ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Ensure supervisors are properly trained and equipped with the right tools to do their job correctly escalating issues and concerns to the appropriate parties as needed when unable to resolve during the off shift.
  • Achieve productivity gains while improving quality and meeting customer schedules, working towards reducing costs and eliminating waste.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with the production floor departments, assigned supervisors, their roles, and how they interact.
  • Demonstrate understanding of Job Descriptions for those employees being supervised and be familiar with the functions, interrelationship, and responsibilities of other team members.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of how to handle discipline problems effectively with supervised employees and coach assigned Supervisors to do the same.
  • Effectively assist with problem solving and suggestions on how to handle situations by providing development opportunities for Supervisors.
  • Demonstrate ability to support supervisors in keeping attendance records and handling employee performance reviews.
  • Demonstrate ability to use an MRP system, including all transactions associated with daily functions.
  • Initiate change based on customer and company objectives.
  • Establish work priorities in partnership with Production Manager and other plant leadership.
  • Establish lean processes and lean culture through continuous improvement and 5S implementations.

Skills and Experience

  • 5-10 years supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment ideally as a Sr. Leader
  • Lean manufacturing continuous improvement experience
  • Leadership in Kaizen events
  • SAP experience is a plus
  • Employee must be able to perform basic reading, writing and mathematical functions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Education

  • Bachelors or Associates degree or equivalent work-related experience is a plus
  • High School Diploma in General Studies or General Studies
