Position Overview

The Manager, Technical Accounting & Compliance for HUS is responsible for executing and leading financial and operational pre-audits as well as special projects under the direction of the Director Technical Accounting & Compliance. This position can be based in Shelton, CT or St Louis, MO or Centralia, MO & has primary responsibility to ensure HUS’s compliance practices comply with Hubbell policies and internal controls, and US GAAP.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Leading financial and operational pre-audits, consulting and special projects, including assistance with acquisitions.
  • Conducting planning, fieldwork, and reporting procedures remotely and onsite for US based and international locations.
  • Preparing pre-audit reports and work papers in accordance with department guidelines.
  • Demonstrating a confident and effective communication style, both written and spoken, that establishes credibility and facilitates clear understanding of audit issues and influences change where appropriate.
  • Work with the accounting and finance team to design effective accounting and reporting processes with an appropriate focus on internal controls.
  • Stay current with emerging accounting guidance that may impact the business, proactively assessing the impact and alternatives.
  • Draft technical accounting memos, accounting position papers, and control documentation to support the company’s accounting conclusions and processes

Skills and Experience

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Excellent project management skills with the focus on timely completion of tasks and the ability to identify and assess a changing array of risks.
  • Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) & Sarbanes-Oxley controls and compliance requirements.
  • Knowledge of SAP, JDE, Hyperion, OneStream and Blackline is highly desirable.
  • Highly organized with an ability to work well under tight time constraints and simultaneously manage multiple tasks.
  • Five or more years' experience in a financial role, with external or internal audit experience a strong plus.
  • Experience auditing in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • CIA, CPA and prior Big 4 experience a plus.
  • Travel required - 50%
