Position Overview
Uses personal experience and background to get familiar with CNC machining equipment at the facility. Once familiar with controls and machines he or she will perform multiple setups and operations to produce machined metal parts for assemblies. Must be able to work from complex blueprints and drawings, perform standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work tooling, understanding of speeds and feeds for machining, and use a wide variety of precision measuring instruments.
Duties and Responsibilities
Set up and operate CNC Horizontal & Vertical Turning Centers in a safe and efficient manner.
Trains other workers in the machining and production operation as well as safety, quality, and related activities.
Must be familiar with G and M codes as well as modify or input work and tooling offsets.
Work with supervision and engineering to create/refine tooling prints and finished products for factory production.
Verifies conformance of finished work piece to blueprint specifications.
Trains other workers in the machining and production operation as well as safety, quality, and related activities.
Perform inspections of parts using precision measuring instruments such as calipers and micrometers.
Perform daily upkeep and routine maintenance, keeping equipment and work area in good working order.
Follow instructions; written and/or verbal; from the production supervisors.
Comply with and support all aspects of the company’s quality management program.
Must wear all PPE required and maintain a safe and clean work area.
Skills and Experience
Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills normally acquired through a high school diploma or GED.
At least three (3) years’ experience of set up, operation, and conventional programming of CNC machines.
Must be able to use precision measuring instruments.
Must be able to read and interpret blueprints and drawings
Strong mechanical aptitude.
General understanding of basic machine operation, tooling and work holding components.
Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Ability to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events.
Is consistently at work and on time; Ensures work responsibilities are covered when absent; Arrives at meetings and appointments on time.
