Division Overview

Hubbell Power Systems (HPS) engages in the design and manufacture of a wide variety of products used by utilities. Today, HPS is deeply engaged in product solutions for OSP Communication utility purposes, and has been actively growing that segment of the business. HPS roots have historically been in high voltage transmission, distribution, substation, underground products used by electric utilities. HPS products are also used in the civil construction, transportation, gas and water industries.

Position Overview

The Quality Technician will report to and assist the Quality Manager with a variety of quality functions as follows: The Quality Technician will report to and assist the Quality Manager with a variety of quality functions as follows:

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Fulfill daily responsibilities in a fast paced, energized, team-based manufacturing environment while maintaining and upholding core company values.
  • Perform First article, First piece, Incoming and In-process quality inspection using a variety of measurement devices including: calipers, micrometers, optical comparator, dial gauge, pin gauges, material hardness testers, visual measuring machine and others.
  • Create Incoming and In-process Quality inspection plans.
  • Create nonconformance reports and investigate nonconforming materials and processes.
  • Perform Root Cause & Corrective action analysis.
  • Participate in Material Review Board activities.
  • Maintain gage calibration and gage calibration database, including gage certifications.
  • Internal auditing of ISO 9001:2015 Standards
  • Interact effectively with co-workers and vendors in order to resolve problems.
  • Participate in various continuous improvement efforts.
  • Support organizational improvement activities by acting as a team member for improvement functions.
  • Support organizational departmental cross training initiatives by becoming cross trained in various skill blocks within the Quality function as defined and agreed upon by Quality Manager.
  • Provide assistance to production within the scope of the position.
  • Maintains all records of inspection.
  • Responsible to maintain a clean and safe working environment.

Skills and Experience

  • Minimum five years of experience in a mid to high level quality inspection position required.
  • Appropriate candidate will work both independently and as a team member; will share knowledge and occupational experiences to improve others while at the same time be willing to listen to and learn from others; bring a consistent level of integrity to all work- related circumstances and environments.
  • Inspection experience in a high-volume machine shop, fabrication, or assembly environment preferred.
  • Internal ISO auditing training/certification preferred, but not required).
  • Position requires strong ability to read and interpret Blueprint/Drawing/Schematic specification.
  • Gage calibration experience preferred.
  • Ability to perform technical writing, as required.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds minimum.
  • Good organizational skills required.
