Division Overview

Position Overview

The Inside Sales and Training Manager is responsible for creating and managing a new Inside Sales department for Hubbell Wiring Device-Kellems. The Inside Sales team is responsible for providing both primary and secondary support for various functional areas within the Customer Service and Sales Support department including (Technical Service, Customer Service, Value Add and Quotations). In addition, this department will be responsible for developing a working knowledge of the various aspects and secondary factors affecting customer service in order to support and proactively improve the department as a whole.  As the principal point of contact between TM and the department, the Inside Sales team is recognized as performing a vital function in the chain of customer satisfaction and service improvement. 

The Manager is responsible for working with Sales Management to define the roles and responsibilities of this new department as well as recruiting, hiring, training and mentoring the Inside Sales Representatives. The Manager must also solicit feedback from the Territory Managers and field sales management regarding future direction.

In addition to the Inside Sales Department, this Manager is also responsible for the Sales and Marketing Leadership Program. This longstanding program is designed to recruit recent college graduates to participate in a comprehensive 1 year training program in preparation for placement into a Territory Management position.

Hubbell is looking for a self-starter who will take the initiative to ask thoughtful questions to identify opportunities as well as take direction to resolve problems. This position reports to the Director of Customer Service and Sales Support.



Duties and Responsibilities

  • Recruit, hire, train and mentor Inside Sales Representatives and candidates for the sales training program.
  • Work with Sales management to define the roles and responsibilities of the new Inside Sales department.
  • Work with Customer Service, Technical Service and Quotation management to ensure the Inside Sales department provides complimentary services to the Sales organization and avoids duplication of efforts.
  • In addition, ensure that the Inside Sales department procedures are consistent with those of the various departments they support.
  • Develop work instructions for the various Inside Sales responsibilities.
  • Develop and implement a cross-training plan for the Inside Sales Representatives so they are well versed in Technical Support, Customer Service, Value Add and Quotations.
  • Work with the Technical Service Manager to develop and implement a product training program for the Customer Service and Quotations departments.
  • Work with Product Marketing to develop the sales training program schedule.
  • Work with Sales Management to schedule trips for the Sales Trainees to travel with Territory Managers.
  • Work with Customer Service, Marketing, Technical Services and Quotation management to develop a departmental rotation plan for the Sales Trainees.
  • Mentor the Sales Trainees to best prepare them for placement into a sales territory.
  • Work with the VP of Sales and Sales Management to identify potential sales territories that are appropriate for the Sales Trainees.

Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or related field
  • Outside sales experience a plus
