Division Overview

Position Overview

The Production Supervisor provides for the direction and supervision of daily activities of assigned departments to ensure meeting required goals such as safety, production, quality, efficiency.

Duties and Responsibilities

Supervises the activities of assigned personnel to achieve predetermined production volume as scheduled consistent with cost and required quality levels.

Plan work assignments to achieve maximum utilization of manpower, materials, equipment, and facilities. Recommends labor requirement and adjustments to the work force.

Acts as a liaison between Production, Engineering, Quality, Shipping and Receiving, Scheduling and Human Resources to ensure efficient operations.

Works with Human Resources concerning employee or labor relations matters. Acts as the Production point person for all collective bargaining unit agreement matters.

Assures compliance with plant rules, policies, safety standards, and good housekeeping.

Skills and Experience

  • 3 to 5 years production supervisory experience with exposure to metal forming, machining, coating, welding, and/or equivalent experience.
  • Solid understanding of hour by hour tool or comparable hourly metric.
  • Must have a solid understanding and demonstrated implementation of Lean Principles: Identification of waste and its subsequent elimination, Pull Systems, Kanban and replenishment systems, TPM, 5S/Workplace organization, Visual Management SMED, Standard, Work, Flow Concepts, and Level Load Scheduling.
  • Proven track record of implementing and sustaining change in a manufacturing environment.
