Azure is looking for a passionate Principal Program Manager to help it keep up with its customer demand by being part of its Readiness Engineering team, which is responsible for ensuring that sellable capacity is available for Microsoft customers for their workloads. This is your opportunity to lead and develop our strategy specific to server readiness and deployment allowing us to keep pace with the exponential growth of the Microsoft Cloud. The Principal PM of Readiness Engineering is focused on providing thought leadership across all areas of server deployments which enables the Microsoft Cloud to scale across all engineering groups.   You will work with senior engineering leaders across the company to define the deployment roadmap and to land the strategic vision necessary to consistently deliver cloud capacity on a global scale.   You will craft recommendations and partner with corporate strategy, engineering, and go-to-market teams to drive the implementation of your recommendations through completion.   You will provide thought leadership on Supply Chain and how WIP flows through our deployment pipeline, establishing clear metrics/tollgates for the organization, leading to a single provisioning process for all server deployments.  This role requires a dynamic personality who can work successfully in a diverse environment filled with ambiguity.  This will be an IC role and over time this will scale into a management position. This is a highly visible position reporting to the Sr. Director of Readiness Engineering.

Responsibilities

Own stakeholder engagement rhythm throughout program to ensure dependent teams are engaged and align to drive program outcomes with predictability and rigor

Lead the delivery of program from start-to-finish; solution design to implementation across multiple dependent teams

Create & socialize schedule driving transparency on issues, risks, and help wanted. Drive scope/schedule/resource (including budget) trade-off decisions, including interaction with senior LT

Conduct data analysis (trend, impact, failure modes, etc.) that is relevant to the assigned program to identify opportunities to mature and also align to industry standard

Provide Engineering teams with business capabilities/use cases/scenarios to articulate clear business requirements, aligned to strategic vision

Apply a broad and deep understanding of customers, partners and internal groups' needs, drivers, and decision-making processes

Collaborate with business partners to identify alternative solutions/options to resolve business challenges; gain buy-in across the business partner stakeholder group on final recommendation

Drive clarity and alignment across business partners on multi-phased roadmap for solution implementation; ensuring alignment to minimum viable scope at each phase.

Establish & manage expectations for delivery and benefit realization across stakeholders

Enable collaboration between supply chain, operations, and engineering stakeholders to ensure automation solution is aligned to requirements & expectations managed with stakeholders on trade-offs

Build & maintain strong and collaborative relationships and trusted partnerships across the Azure landscape

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • BS or MS in Engineering or equivalent years of experience
  • 10+ years or equivalent experience in program management and/or solution delivery
  • 5+ years of experience in data-center operations and/or relevant supply chain experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of Lean Six Sigma
  • 5+ years industry experience in product/process Design for Excellence with emphasis on operational optimization at scale
  • Advanced analytical & quantitative skills; strong bias towards data-based decision making, and comfort with financial and operational analysis
  • Demonstrated ability to work across complex organizational boundaries
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, influence, and presentation skills; ability to effectively communicate with all levels, to support consensus-building & alignment
  • Working knowledge of PowerBI and data analytic tools

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role.
