Our work underpins Microsoft Cloud Operations & Innovation team growth and expansion into new markets and diverse customer requirements.

Microsoft Cloud Operations and Innovation team is looking for a strong candidate to work in the Portfolio team, who is responsible for managing our multi-billion dollar portfolio of leased data centers across the globe. The team interacts regularly with Microsoft's senior leadership team and has full accountability for our existing leases/ contracts, as well as critical programs which are pivotal to delivering our data center platform for Cloud Operations. The team is looking for highly motivated contracts professional with experience delivering and continuously improving our managed portfolio and associated programs, ensuring our inventory continues to align with our overall growth strategy and developing strategic partnerships with key lessors.

As an ideal candidate, you are a solution-oriented person with a combination of deep business and planning-related domain expertise and an analytical mindset. You must have the ability to work with diverse stakeholder groups to develop creative engineering solutions to drive changes in our complex and rapidly growing Cloud Infrastructure. This role requires familiarity with the breadth of Microsoft’s services, strong program management skills, analytical fluency, ability to work with both business and engineering teams as well as an instinct for and appreciation of the needs of multiples business and engineering teams as well as an instinct for an appreciation of the needs of multiple business and engineering stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Overall responsibility to drive consistency, standardization, and process implementation and improvements for portfolio programs across or leased portfolio activities and delivery.
  • Develop programs to continuously improve and streamline the operation and management of our programs to support the portfolio
  • Establish a results-oriented, metrics-driven programmatic approach to strategic initiatives to develop improvements and efficiencies of our leased portfolio
  • Manage a team of SME’s who have focused responsibility on our key programs
  • Creation of internal reporting and metrics to internal teams to enable the business to manage the pipeline and business performance.
  • Define process and improvements that drive long-term, integrated, cross-business solutions and roadmaps that improve business performance and mitigate risk
  • Drive simplification and automation to evolve processes, services, and solutions to increase agility and efficiencies and lower costs
  • Lead a world class program management team that regularly and successfully delivers complex, impactful, and visible infrastructure projects and programs
  • Provide programmatic leadership and input for all compliance and risk matters related to all of the strategic partnerships we have with our lessors, and our entire contract base
  • Develop and implement a system for tracking and reporting on all leasing activity for tactical development plans as well as for strategic visibility, providing opportunity to achieve improved terms for Microsoft.

Qualifications

This is an extraordinary opportunity for an individual with strong portfolio and program management experience and expertise to make significant impact and fuel our next wave of growth. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with a high-performance management team. We are looking for candidates who meet the following:

Required:

  • 10+ years overall, with at least 8 years of experience and a track record in senior program management.

Preferred:

  • Maintains a non-biased point of view focusing on business outcomes
  • Solution oriented with the ability to work collaboratively with technical and non-technical business functions to overcome roadblocks
  • 6+ years of experience in asset management or property related function. Data center experience an advantage
  • Ability to communicate effectively with senior leadership and influence without authority across levels and functions
  • Capable of prioritizing and making data-driven program recommendations on how to deliver a strategic roadmap aligned to enterprise and key business outcomes (e.g. efficiency, revenue, margin, compliance, safety, etc.
  • Track record of effectively leading & organizing a complex array of programs including mastery of project management planning, dependency management and delivery across multiple stakeholders
  • Work directly with a large number of cross functional stakeholders and teams with differing perspectives & methodologies in a unifying direction
  • Ability to learn quickly and work effectively in a rapidly changing environment and deal with the stresses and tensions of a high profile area
  • Ability to point to specific examples of having led transformation projects and program development and the business results achieved
  • Planning and Strategy: Business strategy and market development expertise with deep analytical and business modeling skills. Strong 360-degree strategic thinking is critical to success in the influence
  • Passion: Create great end to end customer experiences including technology services that open new growth opportunities and innovations in business models and partnership models. “
  • Influence: Ability to drive results in a complex and highly ambiguous technical and business environment including ability to communicate and influence all levels from senior executives on down and all functions (including engineering, marketing, sales, services, finance and legal)
  • Collaboration: Independently leading cross disciplinary virtual teams and driving key business development initiatives for moderately complex deals from creation to implementation partnership with senior Microsoft executives
  • Key interpersonal traits: Motivation, creativity, adaptability, unquestionable ethics and integrity, bias towards data-based decision making and a willingness to take calculated risks
  • Positive Attitude: Ability to contribute consistently and positively in a high-paced, fast-changing, and sometimes unpredictable work environment

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
