The Margin Strategy and Investment Optimization (MSIO) team is an exciting and fast-evolving finance team at the forefront of Microsoft’s cloud-first strategy.

The Cloud Infra Strategy, Planning & Delivery Finance team is seeking a highly collaborative individual who thrives in designing and implementing new processes and delivers on execution. This individual will be key to ensuring the long-term contract is operationalized in accordance with MS Policies, GAAP and SOX. The role requires the ability to optimize processes for efficiency and scale and have an outstanding attention to details. The ideal candidate is a self-starter, takes initiative, is excited for big challenges and can work independently in their approach to solving complex problems.

Responsibilities

  • Establish & oversee accounting processes for acquiring & selling equipment to our partner ensuring compliance with trade, customs & contract requirements
  • Drive insightful monthly financial reporting & analysis through preparation of key deliverables for monthly close, planning (forecast, target, budget, etc.) and other financial & Business review cycles.
  • Effectively collaborate with engineering leaders, technical project leads, business managers, and cross-company finance and operational team members
  • Execute and oversee billings and credits processes, including issuing and recording shipping & tax invoices to comply with partner and Microsoft accounting requirements
  • Manage reporting including key performance and operating metrics, variance and aging analysis, to drive insights and improve process efficiencies.
  • Prepare & maintain process narratives and workflows
  • Other ad-hoc projects as assigned by Leadership Team

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 2+ years post-graduate financial analysis, accounting, controllership, or finance work experience
    • OR Master's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field
    • OR equivalent experience.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Association of Certified Chartered Accountant (ACCA) or equivalent certification.
  • Strong business partnering experience, collaborative and inclusive when working with others
  • Strong project management skills
  • Proven Excel skills. Experience in data cubes & BI reporting a plus.
  • Excellent cross-group collaboration skills including the ability to communicate with executive management.
  • Strong process or operations accounting experience and drive for flawless execution.
  • Ability to influence and impact without authority, and solve difficult problems, combined with the ability to prioritize and function well in a dynamic and operational environment.
  • Show propensity for learning, and demonstrate the ability to identify, analyze, interpret, and deliver sound solutions.
  • Willingness and desire to understand technical requirements, processes & systems critical to our Online Operations.
