Principal Site Reliability Engineering Manager, Digital Security and Resiliency (DSR)

Microsoft is seeking a focused site reliability engineering manager to join the Digital Security & Resilience (DSR) organization as we undergo the journey to ensure that the right virtualization services are released with the right security mindset. Our goal is to ensure access to the right resources at the right time, protected every step of the way.

With your experience in leading engineering functions, mentoring and nurturing teams, and knowledge of Azure Management (including Azure AD), Windows Server OS, enterprise infrastructure and overall service health, you will champion our own identity-centric digital transformation and support hundreds of thousands of employees as they seek to empower every person on the planet to accomplish more.


Key responsibilities:

  • Lead a cross-functional, highly visible, operations team supporting Windows Virtual Desktop platform for Microsoft’s corporate network.
  • Support and nurture engineers across varying experience levels, with an emphasis on continuous learning and career development.
  • Create clarity and generate energy within the team; deliver success for DSRE.
  • Drive security objectives with measurable key results throughout the organization and obtain support from external stakeholders.
  • Identify tactical and strategic opportunities to improve service health, performance, reliability, and telemetry.
  • Represent the service and communicate its needs effectively at all levels.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with partner teams; creating opportunities to contribute to the success of others or leverage their efforts to achieve internal goals.


Required Experience:

  • 5 years of managing technical services/infrastructure
  • 1-3 years of enterprise scale virtualization experience

Preferred Experience:

  • Previous engineering team management experience or demonstrable readiness to begin
  • Prior experience with Azure service Management: Azure Active Directory, Windows Server, ARM, DSC, PowerShell
  • BS/BA in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
  • Exposure and familiarity with Agile & SRE principles, automated deployments and build pipelines
  • Budgetary, resource and capacity planning/forecasting experience
  • Experience in Development #C, .Net, Terraform, Blazor

The ideal candidate will have experience in a team environment, experience running and designing enterprise scale services and platforms, technical depth in cloud platforms, agile development practices, and experience in designing & tuning telemetry. In addition, this position requires an individual who can demonstrate the ability to ensure highly resilient and scalable service designs through partnership with other members of the service team.
