We are looking for an experienced manager to lead our Simulation team within Studio Alpha. Our ideal candidate has aexpertise in C++, Cloud-based systems design, and a proven track record for managingdevelopment teams. One who possesses both the skills and passion needed to lead and grow a talented team of engineers ranging from junior to highly experienced. Candidate will have the experience and skills to drive the leading edge of modeling and simulation using game technology and geospatial data to enable better strategic and tactical AI decision making for real-world, global scale problem solving.

Responsibilities

A successful candidate for this role will leverage their passion, leadership and world-class software engineering skills to lead our simulation team in creating cloud-based simulation experiences. You will be a key team member for transforming Modeling and Simulation with best-in-class Gaming, Enterprise, AI and Cloud technologies to provide an exponential increase in speed and insight for Mission critical workloads. This is a rare opportunity to drive the foundation of a new market segment, collaborating with industry leading cloud and game studio leaders across Microsoft. Successful candidates will have a track record of successfully leading teams, shipping quality software and excel at communicating effectively within a growing organization.

Qualifications

Required

  • 7+ years of professional software engineering experience
  • 3+ years of management experience leading development teams
  • 4+ years of experience coding in C++
  • Experience working within Azure, AWS or GCS

Preferred

  • 4+ years of experience in any of the following: simulations, physics, ai, engine, game systems, tooling, or optimizations
  • Outstanding skills in modern C++ and experience with scripting languages. ECS pattern a plus
  • Strong understanding of containerization and experience working with Docker and/or Kubernetes
  • Strong understanding of software development processes and methodologies
  • Experience in designing Cloud-based system architectures
  • Experience in 3D math, especially related to game programming
  • Experience growing and supporting junior engineers
  • Experience leading and supporting highly experienced engineers
  • Experience as primary architect of at least one core gameplay/simulation system
  • Experience in building APIs
  • Experience working with industry M&S tools such as MATLAB/SIMULINK, AnyLogic, Unity and Unreal
  • Experience working with constructive sims such as VR-Forces, AFSIM, VBS, or OneSAF
  • Experience in networking technologies such as Sockets, ZeroMQ, SignalR, GRPC, etc.
  • Working knowledge of how artificial intelligence and/or machine learning concepts can be applied to the simulation space
  • Capable of quick prototyping and rapid iteration to ‘fail fast’
  • Able to solve problems of high technical complexity and scale in game development context
  • Must be a strong collaborator with a growth mindset
  • Proficient in quickly and aesthetically drawing up system and software architecture diagrams
  • Excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skills
