Microsoft’s Cloud business is experiencing explosive growth, and the Capacity, Supply Chain & Provisioning (CSCP) organization is responsible for enabling the infrastructure underlying this growth. CSCP is responsible for strategic sourcing, customer demand forecasting, capacity planning and management, supply chain planning and execution, capacity provisioning, and decommissioning and dispositioning of datacenter assets worldwide.


Cloud Sourcing and Supply Chain (CSSC) organization within CSCP manages sourcing and supply of IT hardware for the data centers. Well-defined and executed sourcing and supply chain management ensures reliable on-time performance, optimized cost, prevents urgent and unplanned investments, and provides accurate and timely information across the supply base and internally across the infrastructure organization. The role of Principal Advanced Sourcing Manager will focus on the following key areas:

  • Early engagement with our development engineering team to identify optimization opportunities and drive product solutions around design, manufacturing, and commonality.
  • Establishment of appropriate sourcing strategy with relevant partners to drive long-term goals of SC (Supply Chain), COS (Continuity of Supply), cost, and design optimization.
  • Found and deliver supplier relationship management strategies tuned to each supplier.
  • Drive RFQs and selection process through analysis of supplier capabilities.
  • Provide thought leadership and manage strategic initiatives with internal stakeholders and suppliers to support cloud supply chain objectives and strategies

Responsibilities

  • Sourcing management
    • Engage with cross- functional leadership including product design, quality, and business teams to determine best design solution and supply base to deliver that solution at optimal SC, COS, and cost.
    • Manage the ODM server program working across sourcing category teams to drive complete server optimization from board components, mechanicals, thermals, etc.
    • Define RFQ / RFP activities and conduct negotiations with suppliers.
    • Manage contracting activities with Legal and ensure contracts reflect appropriate business terms, IP protection, etc.
  • Cost and operations management
    • Build multi-sourcing strategy to mitigate risk and drive appropriate competition.
    • Identify cost reduction opportunities and drive supplier competition with cost modelling and other sourcing tools.
    • Run weekly, monthly, quarter review with team on cost and operations KPIs
    • Manage ad-hoc cost issues e.g., tariffs / import export cost, cost inflation Continuous improvement of all critical areas around supply, mfg., cost, etc.
  • Manage supplier performance and compliance
    • Develop and enable new suppliers
    • Ensure supplier compliance with MSFT security, social responsibility, payment requirements.
    • Conduct business review discussions
    • Ensure supplier deliver corrective actions on time from business review / audits
    • Support and meet business cost metrics through the development process

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • 10+ years experiences in procurement, supply chain, and/or operations
  • Extensive experience in leading cross functional teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree or higher in Engineering or technical background, or equivalent experience
  • Cloud / high-tech supply chain experience
  • Extensive knowledge in hardware sourcing and supply chain
  • Demonstrated track record in supplier negotiation and management
  • Strong influencing skills and ability to build lasting relationships across multiple layers in the organization
  • Excellent communication and synthesizing skills of both written and verbal
  • Able to generate quality outputs using Microsoft tools (Word, Excel modeling, Power Point slides).
