The Hardware Engineering Team within Azure Cloud Hardware Infrastructure Engineering (CHIE) is responsible for development and delivery of server hardware for Microsoft Cloud data center customers. This includes hardware definition, development, and validation of components, servers, and rack infrastructure for our in-house and ODM/OEM development projects. We are seeking an experienced Hardware Engineer to contribute to the development of these complex high-performance computing systems. The candidate will work with system architecture and engineering teams in Azure and partner with external manufacturers to develop and deploy Microsoft next cloud solution.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development of hardware systems and electrical designs.
  • Review and provide feedback on schematics, PCB layout and circuit designs.
  • Engage with CM, ODM, OEM, and SI for development and deployment of new hardware.
  • Conduct failure analysis and root cause analysis of electrical and system bugs.
  • Collaborate with Firmware, Mechanical, Thermal, and Power engineering team members to implement and test new features.
  • Collaborate with NPI and Sustaining engineering team members to ensure design quality.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or another related field
  • 5+ years of computer system development experience
  • Engineering experience in modern server architecture, board design (schematics and PCB layout), manufacturing, component selection, and validation of server hardware and components

Preferred:

  • Analog power delivery design and power management experience.
  • Experience in board power delivery layout
  • Strong passion to learn
  • Demonstrates leadership skillsets and team inclusiveness qualities
  • Self-driven, self-motivated individual, must be able to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment and across the team of engineers
