Microsoft Cloud Hardware Infrastructure Engineering (CHIE) is the team behind Microsoft’s expanding Cloud Infrastructure and responsible for powering Microsoft’s “Intelligent Cloud” mission. Microsoft is seeking a highly qualified candidate to join the team as a Lab Hardware engineer. As a Lab Hardware engineer within the Azure Cloud Hardware Infrastructure Engineering (CHIE), you will support innovative projects and apply your expertise in a fast paced & technically driven environment with a diverse set of teams to ensure that the lab operations is optimized and tuned to perform in a complex environment while continuing to scale space, capacity and capability.

Responsibilities

  • Providing specifications for the end-to-end physical implementation of various project requirements including detailed hardware configurations, racks, network configurations, infrastructure, racking systems, power distribution & floor load management.
  • Provide post project implementation support that includes equipment verification and configuration testing in support of defined project requirements.
  • Provide required troubleshooting, maintenance and management of server racks, network connectivity, and infrastructure while coordinating user requirements to align with automation capabilities and recommended technical solutions.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of all documented processes and procedures.
  • Drive continuous improvement efforts to meet and support needs inclusive of system operational goals, capacity optimization, and emerging capability needs.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering or related field or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience with Virtual Machine Technology (Hyper-V, Raritan KVM), Windows Cluster Technology (iWarp RDMA, SOFS), and System Center Technologies (SCEM, SCOM, SCDPM).
  • 2+ years of experience with Core Routing, switching functions and LAN technologies.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications: CCNA, CCNP, CCIE and/or CCDA
  • Experience with supporting Operating Systems that includes both Linux and Windows. 
  • Familiarity with Dell and Arista switching technologies
  • Good written and verbal communication & organization skills.
  • Ability to work well independently and on a team. A collaborative spirit and a growth mindset.
  • Customer and results oriented with attention to quality and details.
  • Motivated to continuously learn and improve existing solutions.
  • Experience with Linux command line operations, scripting languages such as PowerShell, installs, configures.
