Take a lead role in evolving Microsoft's media framework to enable our partners to easily deliver high value, engaging, cross-platform media experiences. In this role you will be working with a strong, experienced, and supportive team that will help you deliver your best work. As the Technical Program Manager for media frameworks, you will define and execute the technical roadmap, and will partner closely with other Microsoft teams and application developers to grow our content ecosystem.

The Core OS Media Platform team is an inclusive and collaborative team in Azure Edge + Platform and is the center of excellence for core audio, video, and streaming technologies that enable essential systems and products across the company. The team is successfully driving wins with partner teams including Windows, Xbox, and Surface, and we work closely with top industry partners. Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Working closely with our developer leads, you will clearly articulate "how" we evolve the media framework and media engine and will be responsible for successfully aligning stakeholders, creating and executing on a roadmap to continue to meet the business needs.
  • Continuously benchmark the Microsoft media framework against competing frameworks and make recommendations on areas of investment.
  • Grow and maintain deep technical relationships with Microsoft partner teams and application developers to ensure we have a deeper understanding of our partner technical needs.
  • Be a champion for and evangelize the SIGMA Media solutions to key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Be data driven to ensure we continue to make correct decisions each step of the way


Required Qualifications:

  • 5 + years working as a Technical Program Manager or Software Developer or Software Architect
  • 3+ years driving technical feature roadmaps

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledgeable about media frameworks, video codecs, system-level architecture, and device optimization, preferably in a technical lead or architect role.
  • Experience in using media frameworks and building iOS, Android, Windows and/or web-based media applications.
  • Familiarity with the latest web-based media standards and application frameworks.
  • Strong Project/program management skills, communication, and cross-group collaboration skills.
  • Great problem-solving skills, with a bias for customer obsession, data-driven quality, and engineering excellence.
  • The ability to see the bigger picture and focus on end-to-end scenarios.
  • Excellent technical judgment, demonstrating maturity and intellectual curiosity, helping the team pursue the best ideas.
  • Demonstrated experience launching features across partner/customer ecosystems.
