Microsoft Azure provides customers an on-demand, scalable infrastructure + platform to build, host, and operate services through Microsoft’s global data centers. As part of its continued growth, Azure is pushing to expand beyond the confines of its data centers.

ASE expands Azure to the Edge, providing customers the ability to manage their global on premises deployment with the power of Azure ARC and Azure Stack HCI. ASE needs to address challenges across the board including edge hardware, Azure services enablement, security, and connectivity between the edge and Azure.


Our team is looking for a technical Principal Software Engineer Manager to help lead this effort as part of a customer-centered engineering team. You will work across Azure organizations to define and deliver critical, customer-facing features, and the infrastructure required to support them. You will get the opportunity to actively participate in the hiring and help build the team.

This role will have a measurable impact on customer growth and satisfaction for one of the fastest growing businesses at Microsoft. We are looking for a senior software engineer, who thinks strategically, works pragmatically and with enthusiasm in a fast-moving environment with few guardrails. You will need strong customer empathy and an ability to focus our engineering efforts on customer requirements as well as Azure’s business priorities.


You MUST possess the following attributes:

  • 10+ years of experience with C#, C++, Java or other object-oriented programming languages

  • 3+ years of experiencing managing a technology group of 20+

  • 5+ years of experience building reliable, distributed systems at scale

These attributes are preferred:

  • Experience in cloud development principles and patterns, particularly loosely coupled architectures and micro-services

  • Technical knowledge of cloud storage, and networking

  • Ability for setting and driving towards measurable goals

  • Excellent collaboration skills with ability to develop key partnerships

  • Experience with Azure, AWS or GCP
