Azure Networking/Physical Network is the team behind the physical networks in the datacenters that enable cloud services. Our focus is on smart growth, high efficiency, and delivering a trusted experience to customers and partners worldwide. We are looking for a passionate, high energy individual to help build the network that powers the world's largest online services. Phynet/CIE Network Engineering group is responsible for providing Network Design, Implementation, Engineering and support various 1st party groups in Microsoft and this team is critical to the success of Microsoft, as services are rapidly growing and so is the need for an increasingly reliant network.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a technical roadmap for major online/cloud services
  • Create and propose technical solutions when faced with a new complex systems design or process issue, where little or no precedent exists
  • Provide technical expertise to perform root cause analysis of service interrupting incidents; develop and implement strategies to prevent recurrence
  • Take responsibility for prioritizing critical, competing tasks that may lack clear end results.
  • Effectively apply influence strategies and negotiation skills to impact decisions and make trade-offs based on TCO and risk
  • Drive continuous improvements of the networking service, drive automation to manage the scale and continue to optimize the efforts through appropriate tooling and automation

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in languages such as, C#, Python, Powershell, and PERL.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of API design such as Netconf, RESTful API, XML APIs, and SNMP.
  • Understanding of networking technologies
  • Leadership, co-ordination and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work independently on complex tasks
  • Strong System Design and Dev skills
  • Experience with performance optimization of low-level code
  • Ability to work with multiple partner teams and external vendors to drive impact
  • Passion and drive for profound impact

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
