Microsoft is seeking an Azure Cloud Solution Architect to be a senior technical enablement leader working with Microsoft partners to build capacity and capability in support and delivery of Azure deployments for healthcare enterprise customers centered on Epic software ecosystem solutions.

As a Subject Matter expert in both Azure Infrastructure Technology and Customized Healthcare Software solutions, such as Epic, you will help Microsoft partners evaluate their cloud strategy, determine approaches to application and data migration, modernization, recommending solutions that meet healthcare customer requirements.

Responsibilities

Partner / Team Collaboration

  • You will help partners make technical decisions to migrate customer Epic workloads to Azure and build tomorrow’s business and IT solutions based on Microsoft and 3rd party technology.
  • You will collaborate with a virtual team of experts and influence the Microsoft Epic on Azure go-to-market strategies by providing feedback to sales, marketing, and engineering on current and future product requirements and market blockers.
  • You will work with our partner and engineering ensuring that the product truth is grounded in technical excellence, continuously identifying opportunities to help meet/exceed the scale, performance, security, reliability, and operational efficiency goals for our customers.
  • Contribute to virtual teams of partner, engineering and field resources to build new Azure healthcare partner practices and solutions.
  • Develop and maintain your deep technical expertise across Microsoft and non-Microsoft cloud-based infrastructure technologies.

Understanding Customer/Partner Technical Environment

  • Gathers partner insights (e.g., feedback around technical preferences, environments, business needs, competitive landscape), and maps architecture and digital transformation solutions to partner business outcomes. Adapts business models, plans, and solutions to insights.
  • Acts as the voice of the partner by driving new feedback, gaps, blockers, insights, resources, etc. across communities to track, add, and prioritize, using established channels (e.g., UAT/TFT).

Architecture Design and Deployment

  • Leverages and champions an existing architecture approach to achieve Microsoft's agreed commitments to the partner. Identifies growth opportunities based on knowledge of partner needs.
  • Receives and synthesizes data about partner business and technical requirements, addresses them with technical architecture(s), and demonstrates and proves those solutions capability and business value through design collaboration sessions with the partner.
  • Applies broad technical knowledge across various of architecture solutions to meet business and information technology (IT) requirements and resolve identified technical constraints. helps to shape and enhance customers' requirements.
  • Leads partner projects that implement technical architecture(s). Provides thought leadership for technical architecture design, development, and deployment and supports the partner throughout pre-sales and/or implementation.
  • Identifies, escalates, and works to resolve technical blockers (e.g., changing configurations, sample coding) to accelerate architecture implementations and routes non-technical issues for removal by the appropriate party.
  • Adapts methodology and applies governance to identify, communicate, and minimize business and technical risks (e.g. Well-Architected Framework, Enterprise Scale Landing Zone, Cloud Adoption Framework). Defines customer/partner conditions of success, adheres to quality assurance, and calculates risks while designing and/or delivering solutions.

Practice Development

  • Generates new ideas for changes and improvements to existing intellectual property (IP), technologies, and processes for designated customers/partners. drives opportunities for IP re-use, best practice sharing, and consumption.

Trusted Advisor

  • Develops and expands existing impactful relationships with customer and partner/MCS architects and technical specialists, technical decision makers (TDMs), and business stakeholders.
  • Respectfully challenges customers/partners when going in the wrong direction and escalates appropriately.
  • Understands the competitor's architecture solutions and identifies Microsoft's strengths over competitive solutions to drive conversations with customers/partners and convince them of solution.

Thought Leadership

  • Shares ideas, insight, and strategic, technical input with technical teams, internal communities across the field, and the larger virtual team across Microsoft using a thorough knowledge of specific Microsoft products and their context in the competitive landscape.
  • Participates in external architect community events (e.g., conferences, seminars, technical meetups, Webcasts, blogs, hackathons) and shares learnings with the internal team. Acts a mentor to junior colleagues to educate them on technical and non-technical concepts.

Customer Usage

  • Leads architecture design, resiliency reviews, and technical optimization that result in production deployment application and increase customer business value. Drives efforts to ensure that the customer's environment and applications are well-architected.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Business, or related field AND 4+ years of experience in cloud/infrastructure technologies, information technology (IT) consulting/support, systems administration, network operations, software development/support, technology solutions, practice development, architecture, and/or consulting
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of experience working either within Healthcare (Hospital, Lab, Clinical, Research, Health Systems, Providers) or Consulting/Service providers supporting healthcare related customers.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

  • 4+ years technical sales experience.
  • 4+ years project management experience.
  • Epic software suite development, deployment, migration experience preferred
  • Technical Certification in Cloud (e.g., Azure).
  • Deep understanding of deployment architectures for Electronic Health Records (Epic Solution).
  • Understanding of Microsoft Infrastructure as a Services (IaaS) products and/or complementing solutions. The position requires the ability to articulate and present the business value of Microsoft's solutions and have a firm understanding of Microsoft's strategies and products relative to major Microsoft competitors preferred
  • Knowledge of the primary Azure services (Premium/Ultra Storage, ExpressRoute, Specialized Compute, Traffic Manager, Azure Firewall, Scale-Sets, AVD)
  • Strong record of accomplishment of implementing Azure services in a variety of distributed computing environments
  • Leading highly available and fault-tolerant enterprise and web-scale software deployments
  • Large scale migration experience Data Center to Data Center and/or Data Center to Cloud
  • Infrastructure automation through DevOps scripting (E.g. CICD, Terraform, Ansible, PowerShell)
  • Strong practical Linux and Windows-based systems administration skills in a Cloud or Virtualized environment
  • Experience managing data center operations, including data assurance, monitoring, alerting and notifications
  • Meets/exceeds Azure's leadership principles requirements for this role and functional/technical depth and complexity

The salary for this role in the state of Colorado is between $129,800 to $194,800.

At Microsoft, certain roles are eligible for additional rewards, including annual bonus and stock. These awards are allocated based on individual performance. In addition, certain roles also have the opportunity to earn sales incentives based on revenue or utilization, depending on the terms of the plan and the employee’s role.
