Insights is the marquee module in the Microsoft Viva Suite; one of Microsoft’s biggest launches in a decade, with the aim of building the first employee experience platform (EXP) for the hybrid era. We are looking for a Technical Program Manager for the Viva Insights team. This person will be responsible for driving the development, planning, and execution of a holistic cross-functional product launch strategy. Partners with the engineering team to contribute, prioritize and deliver on the roadmap for multiple feature areas. Manages governance programs and processes to ensure that specific performance requirements and standards are met throughout the development lifecycle.

This role can be based out of any of Microsoft offices in the US, with flexibility for in-office or work from home schedules.


Key deliverables:    

  • Orchestrates the development and implementation process of multiple feature areas (e.g., product, services) for large and complex cross functional projects with internal teams and external partners.
  • Identifies and describes the dependencies in relationships within and across systems.
  • Writes detailed documents listing the set of goals, user scenarios, technical, telemetric, and prioritized requirements needed to build out products or services.
  • Collaborates with others to track, coordinate, and communicate end-to-end project schedules (e.g., epics, sprint/semester plans, milestones, timelines, releases) for multiple feature areas (e.g., product, service).
  • Seeks opportunities to improve and automate processes to achieve scaled operations.
  • Manages service/software compliance, security, and privacy.
  • Performs data analysis with SQL or other big data (COSMOS, etc.), etc.
  • Analyzes complex systems and architect solutions in collaboration with engineering teams (focus on Azure and end-to-end flows and management)


Qualifications for the role include excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to lead and manage individuals and teams across various business functions. Also, can develop, understand, and apply domain-specific technical knowledge to complete assigned work.



  • 8+ years of work experience in program management within the tech (software) industry
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher or related experience 



  • Knowledge of the overall process for developing, releasing, and maintaining products. This includes knowledge of the roles and responsibilities of engineering and other functions, major phases, checkpoints, and deliverables.
  • Ability to identify common issues and considerations for delivering, updating, or deprecating a product.
  • Ability to create effective and forward-thinking strategies and action plans for both long- and short-term projects. This includes the ability to engage others to commit to the vision by communicating specific goals and objectives.
