We are the Azure Data team part of the Cloud & AI organization. Azure Data engineering teams creates products and services that address interesting challenges in technologies categories, Cloud Platform, Databases, Big-Data, Analytics Systems, Business Intelligence, and Data Governance. We build reliable, highly scalable and highly performing distributed systems for data analytics on Azure.

We are looking for a Senior Business Strategy & Operations leader in the central planning team supporting the Azure Data organization. We are looking for a senior PM and strong cross function execution leader with operations/finance/program management experience and a passion for data and analytics. This person will help define and drive the data platform operating model and interact with senior leaders in Data, the field, marketing as well as key decision makers across the company. This role requires someone who is centered around operational strategy and excellence with a bias for action; thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment; and easily partners successfully with a wide group of stakeholders, from senior leaders to individual contributors and support staff. You will lead cross team and extended directs to contribute towards establishing processes to manage our business as we scale our organization across geographies and product verticals to create common structure and fundamental principles that allows for forward visibility and adaptability for change while optimizing our resources.


  • Lead the strategic planning and financial rhythm of business (RoB), including business reviews, annual budget planning, cross-organizational business reporting, etc. to help the business run smoothly and effectively.
  • Financial management: contribute to the financial management for the business (OPEX, Headcount, COGS) including budgeting, execution and compliance, dashboard implementation.
  • Strategy consulting (special projects) on programs across teams, partnering closely with engineering leadership, cross functional peers (new opportunity assessments, biz dev, partnerships, M&A, compete…)
  • Ensure operational excellence in integration of efficiency and optimization plans with demand and supply planning, and financial planning.
  • Productivity: Identifying, documenting, and following-up on issues, and helping drive closure to ensure overall productivity. Improve book-keeping and recording where applicable while assisting in creating common processes and templates for documentation.
  • Provide meaningful business insights and management reporting through analysis of data and trends.  Serve as subject matter expert and escalation point to ensure data quality and local needs are represented in our systems. Establish committed OKRs and provide periodic progress updates.

Drive senior leadership-oriented insights and reviews clearly communicating results, highlighting risks and opportunities, and providing recommendations impacting bottom lines in a timely manner


Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience successful managing cross function teams and growing talent
  • 5+ years of experience in Business management, procurement, finance operation, strategy consulting, or equivalent experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business related field or work equivenlant

  • Self-starter with strong financial and analytical skills
  • Strong attention to detail, passion for strategic thinking and problem solving, and ability to deliver insights that aid business decisions
  • Ability to work with a variety of people across the organization, including senior leaders, individual contributors, and support staff
  • Ability to maintain good judgment in fast-paced, high-stress environments
  • Flexible and adaptable with the ability to deal with ambiguity and triaging competing priorities
  • Ability to bring insight into suboptimal flows in existing business operations processes, and a drive to improve them over time
  • Strong partnering capabilities, with the ability to influence others without direct authority and appropriately push back when required.
  • Experience leading rhythms, processes, or projects across large stakeholder groups.
  • Ability to communicate complex analysis in a simple way.
  • Executive level oral and written communication skills.
  • Proven leadership skills, with demonstrated results in proactively driving and delivering high value/high-impact project results through both individual and v-team efforts
  • Comfort working at multiple altitudes, from strategic/high-level projects to detailed COGS analysis
  • Good written and interpersonal communication and collaboration skills
  • MBA or advanced degree.
