Microsoft Worldwide Learning (WWL) is the spiritual leader of the learning culture within Microsoft. We are tasked with empowering those who empower the world through learning. We build world class learning and certification experiences for customers, partners, Microsoft employees, and students. The Technical Content Development Team within WWL is looking for a skilled and passionate program manager with knowledge of Microsoft Cloud technologies and services to manage a portfolio of technical, hands-on skilling experiences. The experienced and versatile technologist we seek must come complete with experience in managing technical content programs and have working knowledge of Microsoft cloud solution technologies and practices.

As part of WWL’s Content Development Team, our technical Content Program Managers coordinate with various Microsoft WWL, engineering, marketing, customer-facing consulting teams and other business and technical groups within Microsoft to create immersive skilling experiences that reflect real-world customer challenges. Through our Virtual Training Day program, we deliver technical skilling events that reflect our technical guidance validated through our production solutions. Managing this portfolio of content requires a working knowledge of technical solution creation with Microsoft technologies, including cloud solution architecture, software development tools and practices, and Microsoft cloud services. You’ll also need a working knowledge of modern DevOps processes and technologies as applied to content development and publishing, and a proven ability to develop, implement, and document standards and processes in collaboration with multiple stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Drive content delivery for multiple Microsoft Virtual Training Day projects and play a leading role in driving innovation within our technical content offerings as well as our learning experiences.
  • Find opportunities to scale and consolidate tools, processes, and methods for Microsoft Virtual Training Day content development and publishing, and work with platform and program teams across WWL to standardize, improve, and document them.
  • Collaborate with and influence partners and stakeholders to deliver high-quality, consistent, and manageable content for Microsoft Virtual Training Days that meet strategic skilling requirements for internal and external audiences.
  • Manage onboarding of new development projects to create or refresh Microsoft Virtual Training Day content, ensuring content development v-teams adhere to a standard process and facilitating collaboration between content developers, stakeholders, and infrastructure/platform partners.
  • Troubleshoot issues with Microsoft Virtual Training Day content and the technology environment in which it is delivered.
  • Monitor and report on content status and overall content health, collaborating with Cloud Games coaches to gather and act on feedback.
  • Manage ongoing maintenance of content and related technical assets, ensuing content developers respond to issues, changing business priorities, and technology advances in a timely fashion.

Qualifications

Knowledge / Experience / Abilities required:

  • 3 years of experience as a practicing program manager, working with professional technical writers, software engineers, solution developers, or infrastructure professionals.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud-based DevOps technologies and practices for content development and management, including Git and Markdown.
  • Strong project management, communication, and cross-group collaboration capabilities.

Knowledge / Experience / Abilities strongly preferred:

  • Technical training, and/or instructional design experience.
  • Experience developing innovative learning modalities such as games, simulations, or team-based challenges.
  • Hands on experience of software development or infrastructure management using current Microsoft technologies; validated by a Microsoft certification.

The salary for this role in the state of Colorado is between $108,200 and $162,200.

At Microsoft, certain roles are eligible for additional rewards, including annual bonus and stock. These awards are allocated based on individual performance. In addition, certain roles also have the opportunity to earn sales incentives based on revenue or utilization, depending on the terms of the plan and the employee’s role.
