Digital Security and Resilience (DSR) is looking for a Principal Cloud Security Engineer - Networking to improve and expand the security of our software development processes, platforms, and tools used within Microsoft. As part of a high impact security team, you will be empowered to lead and work across Microsoft’s organizations to raise the bar for protecting the enterprise. 

In this role, you will leverage your technical expertise to lead efforts that bring alignment on standards, processes, and technologies used to secure the network infrastructure platforms and tools used in the enterprise. You will identify systemic areas of opportunity, define plans to close gaps, and gain buy-in from teams across Microsoft to execute the plans. You will push for automation and drive towards secure by default environments. Along the way, you will be a trusted voice who shares your knowledge and expertise.


Key responsibilities:

  • Provide technical expertise and be a key contributor for developing and implementing a comprehensive roadmap for augmenting the security of the networking infrastructure and platforms, tools, and processes leveraged for the internal Enterprise within Microsoft. 
  • Define and lead cross-organizational alignment of technical standards, processes, and technologies for increasing the security of networking infrastructure and hardware and software platforms and tools in support of the networking infrastructure.  
  • Identify, define, and drive implementation of security controls and associated remediation steps.
  • Research, improve, design, optimize and drive implementation of built-in enforcement capabilities, thereby automating NetSecOps and related automation and processes. 
  • Identify and support driving closure of critical security gaps on our networking infrastructure both in the Cloud and On-Prem including platforms, tools, and processes. 
  • Serve as Networking and Network Security Subject Matter Expert within Microsoft organizations.
  • Participate in detailed design, code reviews, bug/issue triage with engineering teams, and support well informed security decisions in harmony with business and engineering goals 
  • In a globally shared responsibility against emerging threats, contribute to renowned forums, Microsoft’s customers, internal product development, and existing product enhancements.

Knowledge, experience, and skills:

  • 8+ years of experience in a technical program/product management, software engineering, or similar role.
  • 6+ years of experience in networking, network security, infrastructure platforms including both on-prem and in the cloud.
  • CCIE Certified (Service Provider or Routing & Switching + Security, Data Center) or equivalent

Preferred, not required:

  • Recent general cybersecurity experience.
  • Technical leadership experience in pre-sales, support or professional services at a networking or SaaS  or cloud security vendor
  • Large network / security architecture ownership at a large service provider or cloud provider
  • Prior experience with hands on network infrastructure / security configuration experience
  • Customer facing experience supporting complex infrastructure products or solutions
  • 4 year degree in computer science or engineering or equivalent
  • Advanced degree: MS, Ph.D., MBA preferred.
  • Prior experience producing concise and quality technical documentation.
  • Experience with building networking infrastructure and network security operations
  • General understanding of cybersecurity standards.
  • Extensive leadership skills, including the ability to influence without authority and collaborate effectively across multiple business groups with clear intent.
  • Excellent judgment, decision making skills, and ability to work with deadlines.
  • Excellent presentation skills and experience presenting to management.
