Microsoft Tax & Customs Department is responsible for Worldwide Tax & Customs Reporting, Compliance, and Planning, including the technology and process to support the coordination of the worldwide tax and customs function.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Manages income tax provision and compliance processes, including the collection of data and ensuring compliance with legislative requirements.
  • Reviews workpapers, calculations, and tax forms prepared by junior employees and provides direction regarding next steps.
  • Prepares technical memos to support tax positions.
  • Maintains technical calculation models including FDII, GILTI, Subpart F, BEAT, and FTC.
  • Prepares in depth E&P and basis studies and supporting schedules.
  • Collaborates with individuals external to the team to gather facts and data that can impact tax calculations.
  • Ensures sharing of information and awareness of facts that could impact calculations.
  • Leverages best-in-class technology (e.g., Machine Learning, Predictive Analytics, etc.) to accomplish goals. Improves current methods used in collecting data and developing automated reporting.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Tax, Law, or related field AND 6+ years of direct and indirect tax compliance, tax returns, tax accounting, or tax audit management experience
  • OR Master’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Tax, Law, or related field AND 6+ years of direct and indirect tax compliance, tax returns, tax accounting, or tax audit management experience
  • OR equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Deep hands-on experience with income tax modeling, ASC740 modeling, and tax accounting software
  • Experience with US international corporate income tax
  • Strong database and desktop application ability (specifically SAP and MS Office)
  • Strong project management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to collaborate effectively with team members and business stakeholders
  • Exhibit strong analytical thinking, ability to work in a fast-paced environment with excellent prioritization and organizational skills
  • CPA certification is desired
  • Previous experience in a corporate tax department
  • Previous experience in Big 4 corporate tax practices
  • For Colorado Applicants the Salary Range is: $119,200 to $178,800
  • At Microsoft certain roles are eligible for additional rewards, including annual bonus and stock. These awards are allocated based on individual performance.
