As a part of the Windows Product Management team in Microsoft’s Experiences and Devices division, the Windows Agility team accelerates delivery of innovation at every stage of the development and release cycle. We drive efficiency in our engineering tools and processes, build confidence and drive growth through rapid-cycle incubation and experimentation, and engage customers through the Windows Insider Program, all to increase the cadence of innovation in Windows.

The Windows Agility Product Management team reporting to this role is made up of Lead and IC Product Managers that work in close partnership with their Software Engineering counterparts, Data Scientists, and other partner teams. These teams drive the evolution of our engineering systems, interactions with our Windows Insiders, how we measure product metrics and release quality, and improve the tools and processes our engineers use to build and deliver Windows.

Responsibilities

The PrincipalGroup Product Manager of Windows Agility is a key leadership position for Windows, enabling and inspiring the team to achieve bold ambitions and positively impact customer experiences. The Group Program Manager leading this team will define the strategy for our engineering systems, incubation and experimentation, and our Windows Insider Program enabling an agile learning loop across product design, code, and signal from customer engagement. The person in this role will need to drive consensus for these strategies across the Windows Leadership Team. Specifically, the role will have the opportunity to drive the business and impact customers through: 

  • Cross-discipline leadership driving the end-to-end mission of the Windows Agility organization
  • Directing and influencing product strategy through collaboration and driving clarity with the Software Engineering and Data Science partners 
  • Ensuring customer experience is exceptional while advancing the Windows as a Service business 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 8+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years people management experience.
  • 6+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.

Key qualifications and leadership attributes for this role include: 

  • Experience leading in an end-to-end software and services business  
  • Ability to provide technical thought leadership at a divisional level  
  • Ability to understand and collaborate on system level architecture strategy and decisions across software and services 
  • Proven capability in recruiting, developing, and retaining a diverse team of world-class engineering talent  
  • Exceptional engineering leadership capability working across areas such as planning, design, development, quality, engineering systems, and shipping 
  • Proven leadership skills in building and cultivating an inclusive team culture, driving management excellence, and improving employee experience 
  • Ability to influence and collaborate across divisions at the executive level 
  • Demonstrated passion and achievement of results to improve the customer experience 
  • Ability to influence the direction of the product and business strategy 
  • Knowledge and experience building and running commercial or consumer products and services  
  • Knowledge and experience with Windows Core OS required
  • Knowledge and experience evolving an operating or product’s engineering system and shipping processes desirable
  • Knowledge and experience in data science, AI, machine learning and/or analytics technologies desirable 

The successful candidate will also likely have shipped multiple product and/or services releases, played a significant leadership role through all stages of the software development lifecycle, including support and sustaining. Must have experience shipping and operating a software-as-a-service business. Candidates will likely have a B.S. and/or advanced degree(s) in computer science or related field and have spent their career building and supporting complex and large-scale software and services.
