Summary: The Director for Trusts and Estates will develop and oversee the client delivery platform for the de novo trust company, based in New Hampshire. As a leader within Wealthspire Trust Company, this role will be critical in creating and managing the trust administration practice, regulatory oversight and policies to ensure compliance with the NH Banking Commission and manage the new business onboarding per AML/BSA regulations. The Director for Trusts and Estates will report directly to the Managing Director, Head of Trust Services and will collaborate with other Trust and Estates colleagues in this growing, specialized unit within Wealthspire.

Client Experience:

  • Manage and develop de novo trust company risk and compliance controls and procedures pertaining to trust administration
  • Collaborate with regulators, examiners and outside counsel/partners on fiduciary matters for the organization
  • Responsible for developing and overseeing new client pre-acceptance process and coordinate with Wealthspire Advisors Operations team for new paperwork.
  • Oversee and participate in legal reviews for trust acceptance
  • Oversee real estate, oil and gas, or other specialty assets are properly documented and reviewed
  • Develop annual administrative review processes and enhancements
  • Collaborate and manage vendors to ensure services deliverables are met and to ensure a premier client experience
  • Prepare and update policy and procedures as needed
  • Create and implement discretionary practices for the organization
  • Act as a liaison between various departments to provide fiduciary guidance, partnership and innovation to enhance trust company service commitments
  • Responsible for recruiting, onboarding, and training new trust company employees
  • As part of the trust management team, will lead the annual review process for trusts:
    • Overseeing preparation of annual beneficiary statements/accountings
    • Facilitating annual trust reviews with Trust Advisors/Trustees
    • Conducting annual trust audits
  • Support fiduciary special projects and tasks as required

Internal Training:

  • Maintain, update trust policies and procedures as appropriate and provide report to Board of Directors.
  • Educate Client Service Associates and Client Administration Associates regarding trust administration and trustee duties
  • Ongoing internal training and communication regarding policies and procedures for the Department

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 10+ years’ experience in a similar role in trust leadership or trust administration
  • Proficiency in trust risk/compliance and audit oversight.
  • Proficiency in trust administration oversight, new business/client onboarding.
  • Strong understanding of BSA/AML and CIP for bank or trust companies
  • Experience with and interest in supporting learning and development initiatives on Trust and Estates subject matter
  • Experience in developing and overseeing technology solutions for trust companies
  • Must be highly organized, detail-oriented and able to independently juggle multiple long-term projects
  • Collaborative and flexible team player who is adaptable to change and innovation.
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

The base salary range for this position in NYC metro area is $140,000 – $180,000. The base salary offered will be determined by factors including, but not limited to, experience, credentials, education, certifications, skill level required for the position, the scope of the position, and geographic location. Actual base salary offered will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
