Position Description:

This role is an opportunity to join a new organization – the Expert Acceleration organization – to deliver an industry-leading, modern learning program platform. The charter for this new organization is to pursue the growth of the Okta ecosystem and provide a modern and captivating learning experience that transforms our Okta experts from allies to loyal defenders and raving fans. Okta is looking for a talented User Experience Designer who shares our passion for enabling customers to adopt and grow with the Okta platform through education products. You will be driving efforts to help design and execute a new learning experience for our learning portal. You have proven skills in conceptual design, interaction design, information architecture, and visual design. You are comfortable owning all stages of design for the education experience. You collaborate well with stakeholders and technical resources to design and implement user-centric solutions. You’re a skilled communicator who applies an empathetic, user-centered approach to problem-solving. The ideal candidate has a love of customers, analytics, knowledge of mobile design patterns, and a solid understanding of how to build an educational experience leading to rapid product adoption.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design simple and delightful user interfaces for Okta education products
  • Probe challenging problems to gain a deep understanding of user goals and behaviors
  • Lead all aspects of a user-centered design process, including user research, creating user flows and wireframes, conducting usability tests, and creating design specifications for handoff
  • Translate business and user needs as well as technical constraints to execute solutions that are meaningful and easy to use
  • Support UI engineering by providing all necessary visual assets
  • Lead design reviews with UI engineering to ensure visual elements are at a polished state
  • Track data and analytics to measure design impact and improve business outcomes
  • Embrace feedback and using an iterative process to solve valuable customer problems

  • You are passionate about supporting teams with a wide variety of experience, backgrounds, and interests
  • Can comfortably distill complex technical problems into clear, conceptual models and simple, elegant solutions
  • You have the ability to adapt to changing priorities, strong oral and written communication, collaboration and teamwork


  • 2-4+ years of experience in UX / product design for Educational (or similar) interfaces
  • BS in Human-Computer Interaction or related field or work experience as a designer
  • Proficient in Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite, and / or similar design tools
  • Possesses at least a basic understanding of HTML / CSS / JavaScript (not required)
  • Great communicator, analytical thinker, at ease with technical subject matter, and preferably has a good sense of humor
  • Experience or Knowledge of Learning Management Systems (not required)
  • Must provide a digital portfolio that showcases impressive skills across a variety of projects, emphasizing work that has been seen and used successfully in actual product, with demonstrated value. (Portfolio link required when applying.)
