Job Overview

TE Connectivity's Operations Managers are responsible for the day-to-day operations and short/long-term planning for the groups they manage. They manage manufacturing, production control, engineering, inventory control, EH&S, shipping/receiving, etc. focusing on the development of technologies and continuous improvement and translating customer requirements into state-of-the-art manufacturing strategies and processes.

Position Summary: Provide leadership in planning and coordinating all Laser Manufacturing operations to ensure that scheduled projects are com­pleted at optimum costs, consistent with safety and quality re­quirements, for on time delivery to customers.

Job Responsibilities

  • To provide leadership in planning, managing, and coordinating all Laser Manufacturing operations to ensure that scheduled projects are com­pleted at optimum costs, consistent with safety and quality re­quirements, for on—time delivery to customers.
  • To provide positive direction and motivation, involving all Laser Manufacturing personnel, in order to ensure optimum productivity. Consistently meeting safety, quality and production goals.
  • Create programs, processes, In-process inspection methodology and set-up sheets for Laser equipment. Ensures the accuracy of all programs and maintenance of program files and directories.
  • Manage tooling selections, designs, documentation and maintenance of tool sheet files and directories.
  • Provide hands on training and support to Laser Technicians and Operators and Leads.
  • Designs and writes machine programs to produce products. Ensures the accuracy of all engineering documentation and its proper transmittal both internally and externally.
  • Works closely with manufacturing personnel to de-bug programs and set-up sheets to ensure that all programs are designed to produce the correct parts in the most efficient manner.
  • Upgrades and modifies old programs so they are up-to-date and may be used on repeat projects.
  • Maintains the system controlling programs and ensures the accuracy of program storage. Keeps up-to-date on new programming technology and other advancements to apply to continued improvement.

Job Responsibilities Continued

  • Assists other departments in solving or responding to quality related problems.
  • Monitors the progress of jobs released to the production floor, performs time standards and updates processes when appropriate.
  • Participates in the development of process methods and procedures, work simplification practices and other process improvement activities.
  • Develops, maintains, and portrays a high degree of professionalism and technical competence both within and outside the organization, encouraging excellence through
    example.
  • Recommends procedures, equipment, and method changes to facilitate the attainment of quality control standards and continuous improvement.
  • Interviews and helps select new employees. Works with Department Leads/Supervisors to ensure that all new employees are properly oriented pursuant to estab­lished policies and procedures.
  • Assists in the training and development of Laser Technicians and Operators.
  • Keeps the VP Operations and Operations Manager informed of important developments, potential problems, and related information necessary for effective management.
  • Performs related work as apparent or assigned.

What your background should look like:

  • A minimum of 5 years of technical experience in Laser applications.
  • Thorough knowledge of shop math.
  • 2 years of CNC programming experience.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, tool and fixture design, time standards, and work center capabilities.
