Job Overview

The AD&M business unit is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Manager to drive business unit initiatives with a heavy focus on fiber optics, manual and semi-automated assembly, welding, and high voltage equipment. This person will aggressively identify opportunities for capacity growth and gross margin expansion and challenge the existing mindset to achieve the business KPI’s.
This position will be an integral member of the senior leadership team in Fairview and will have the opportunity interact directly with our Global Operations MDPE organization within ADM to ensure that all global strategy and process capabilities are implementing with the latest, proven methodologies. In addition to supporting existing processes, the ideal candidate will also work closely with the global NPI/ VAVE/ CI team to develop new process capabilities and use financial and engineering data to support make/buy recommendations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deploy critical manufacturing strategies including capacity expansion, process innovation, gross margin productivity, and automation
  • Manage and review Mftg Engineering capital expenditure needs in line with the yearly budget
  • Manage large scale, projects in line with AD&M BU strategy
  • Manage team of local technical experts to drive process innovation and rollout of best practices across the facility.
  • Manage the day-to-day operation in local site to keep operation running at a high level of efficiency.
  • Interact with and input into all New Product Introductions to ensure alignment with the business and operational initiatives
  • Create and deploy the AD&M Fairview digital factory strategy in line with TE Connectivity’s strategy
  • Create a strong new process pipeline to align with the new product pipeline and key operations metrics, such as Cost of Poor Quality and Conversion and Material Productivity
  • In all activities, show strong financial and business acumen by prioritizing those projects which have the greatest impact on Fairview P&L
  • Work closely with other functional teams and plant leadership at the site, as well as your organization, to influence, coach and ensure perfect execution on small- and large-scale projects.
  • Mentor key Manufacturing Engineering talent in the organization, and support creation of a Diverse Manufacturing Engineering talent funnel
  • Partner effectively with Procurement, Supply Chain, Central Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Finance and Operations in local projects
  • Participate as a key member on Continuous Improvement Initiatives, Gemba walks, Kaizen events and drive a CI improvement mentality across your organization
  • Participate from Tier Meetings, Staff Meetings and Monthly Operations Reviews
  • Responsible to lead a high performing Mftg Engineering team and manage the daily activities pertaining to talent management.

Key Experience/Skills:

  • BS degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology
  • 15+ years of experience in a global company ideally in High Mix/Low Volume Aerospace & Defense industry
  • 10+ years of experience in a managerial capacity and / or project management
  • Strong business acumen, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Proven track record in the application and use of LEAN/Six Sigma tools
  • Demonstrated Project Management skills to execute cost reduction projects on time and within budget
