Job Overview

TE Connectivity’s Quality and Reliability Engineering Teams analyze the ability of product and production systems to comply with customer and contractual requirements through established reliability factors. They design, recommend revisions and install quality control systems, develop and document analytical methods for establishing reliability of products and their components and conduct analysis on relative reliability with regards to cost, structure, weight, maintainability, facility of production, and availability of materials and equipment. Out teams develop, implement and monitor company environmental safety programs and policies to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental, health and safety regulations and recommend corrective actions if necessary. They are responsible for policies and practices to comply with applicable government regulations and industry requirements related to product environmental compliance, the implementation and management of technical and testing standards and specifications, quality control and reliability programs governing materials, product and processes, resulting in the optimization of material and labor, as well as failure analysis, root cause, corrective action and customer communication.

What You'll be Doing...

As a Quality and Reliability Engineer, you are responsible for;

  • Fields customer complaints related to quality or shipping errors/defects on-site at customer locations. Follows-up with customers as necessary to obtain detailed information of claim (photographs, test results, dimensional measurements, date codes, quantities, part numbers, etc.)
  • Initiates product sorts at customer locations, obtaining and submitting quotes to product quality engineers.
  • Assists in initial stages of communicating sorting requirements to the selected source and may have to audit the sorting activity for efficiency.
  • Acts as project manager and main customer contact during high-impact OEM quality events, coordinating cross-functional problem solving teams to minimize customer impact, TE PPM, and cost of poor quality.
  • Drives the effort to achieve 3D response time of 24 hours or less.
  • Influences without authority in effort to achieve 5D/8D response times of 10 work days or less.
  • Construction of Automotive PPAPs per customer requirements as required.
  • Possible travel to our North American customers to review TE product as it is being used by the customer and to foster productive working relationships. Identifies and communicates characteristics that can become OEM pass through risks back to management and manufacturing locations.

What your background should look like:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering field required
  • Prefer 3-5 years’ experience in Customer Quality
  • Ability to lead and coordinate activities involving various cross-functional teams
  • Good understanding of Automotive systems and applications
  • Experience with various problem solving tools preferred (i.e. Shainin Red X, Six Sigma, etc)
  • Able to build customer relationships and act as voice of the customer within the TE internal organization
  • Solid computer skills for Microsoft office applications
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • May require travel to customers and other TE locations, including overnight and multi-day trips
