CrossCountry

CrossCountry is one of the UK’s leading train operators, running services that span the length and breadth of Britain; from Aberdeen to Penzance, and from Bournemouth to Manchester. With a network that covers more of the UK than any other passenger rail franchise, CrossCountry plays a vital role in connecting people, places, and communities. Every year, millions of customers with different backgrounds, needs, and expectations travel on our services, making inclusion central not only to the passenger experience but also to how we work as a business.

About us

Equity, Inclusion and diversity are not optional extras, they are central to CrossCountry’s success. A diverse workforce ensures we can better understand and meet the needs of our people as well as the millions of passengers who use our services each year. An inclusive workplace ensures colleagues feel valued and engaged, which in turn drives better performance and innovation.

CrossCountry’s future depends on how well we continue to embrace inclusion. By listening to colleagues, engaging with customers, and committing to transparency, we can move from good intentions to measurable impact.

The journey is ongoing, but the direction is clear: a workplace and a railway where everyone belongs.

Culture at CrossCountry

quote image
My journey on the railway began in 2005 when I spotted an ad for a Customer Service Assistant role in a ticket office. I had no idea then how much that opportunity would shape my future. From the very first day, I discovered a real passion for the railway and its people, both colleagues and customers. It’s such a unique environment. Early on, I found myself drawn to helping others and soon began training new recruits on the ticketing system. After seven years in customer service, I decided to take the next step and applied for a trainee train driver position, an opportunity that truly set my career in motion
