About the team

Our 30 member consulting department in EMEA consists of four technical consulting teams and one project management team spread out across the UK and Spain. We are continually growing and continually looking to improve and refine our work as a department.

We deliver professional services to our clients where we strive to be the best in terms of technical delivery and every decision we make involves putting our customers first. Our engagements include but are not limited to; Agile implementations, Atlassian implementations, Migration services, Gitlab, Cloud (AWS/Azure/Google) engagements.

The hiring manager for this role is our Global Head of Professional Services, Jarin McClinton.

About the role

Join us as the Head of Consulting at Adaptavist, where you will lead and inspire our Professional Services consulting teams in EMEA. Your primary focus will be on recruitment, enablement, sales, and successful execution of client engagements within your territory.

As the Head of Consulting, you will play a crucial role in driving revenue and ensuring the continued success of our operations. Building upon our strong foundation in Atlassian services, you will be responsible for growing a high-performing Professional Services team capable of delivering exceptional solutions across a wide range of Atlassian technologies and other ecosystems.

Your expertise will be instrumental in fostering operational excellence, cultural transformation, process improvement, development, upskilling, and execution within the Professional Services function. With a deep understanding of strategic planning, operational delivery, professional services, and enablement, you will also manage P&L, analyze data insights, and make informed decisions.

In this role, you will report directly to the Global Head of Professional Services and collaborate with other regional heads to ensure alignment and consistency in service delivery across regions. Your leadership will motivate and empower your Services Team, ensuring they are equipped with the necessary skills to meet the demands of the business and achieve optimal operational effectiveness.

What you'll be doing

Strategy, Management and Metrics

- Leading the Professional Services region to achieve agreed Revenue, Margin and Utilisation targets for your region
- Supporting the creation and execution of the annual Consulting strategy
- Assisting in growing the Adaptavist consulting business by applying efficiencies, standards, and PS workflow alignment
- Supporting effective utilisation across the Professional Services team, ensuring the team are skilled appropriately and the work is balanced effectively between all members
- Collaborating with the Project Managers and finance to ensure that all Services are invoiced according to the terms of the customer contracts
- Collaborating with other regional consulting Heads to maintain consistency and quality of consulting work product globally
- Providing second-level and third-level escalation for resourcing request, conflicts, and project issues
- Managing Consulting Team Leads

Quality

- Responsible for overall quality of Services Delivery across the Division and own the oversight of reporting to enable improvement initiatives and execution against targets
- Driving best practices and foster a culture of continuous improvement and high performance throughout your team and the business

Pre-Sales & Delivery

- Providing Pre-Sales resources to support the sales processes around New & Base Business growth vis the existing Services team
- Coordinating pre-sales allocations for technical subject matter experts (consultants)
- Ensuring the customer experience and overall customer satisfaction is at the forefront of each client engagement we embark on
- Ensuring that Professional Services project governance and delivery processes are complied with by the consultants within the team
- Helping enable scheduled work and all follow-up actions being completed in an accurate and timely manner, and help to facilitate close working relationships between Consulting Team Leads, Consultants and Project Managers

Technical and Client Focus Upskilling

- Supporting the Team Leads to create individual and team development plans to build on and grow existing skills to meet the adapting needs of the business and its customers
- Focusing on creating a client focus skill set within all members of the team to ensure excellent delivery and cross sell/upsell potential
- Collaborating with the Head of PS Knowledge Management and L&D on the development of key learning materials, programmes and knowledge sharing to support identified skill set gaps
- Collaborating on the creation of solutions and packages for use by partner managers and marketing

What we're looking for

- Confident leader, experience of managing people/teams
- Thorough understanding of the professional services business
- Technical knowledge of technical engagements for Atlassian and adjacent ecosystems
- Strong understanding of the software development life cycle
- Excellent communication skills - the ability to write and present complex subject matters in a clear and concise manner
- Proven experience of influencing key global stakeholders and decision makers through a consultative and inclusive engagement style
- Able to work well in a team structure at higher levels of management
- Experience with Confluence, Jira, and applications to support a CoE and knowledge management group (a bonus!)
- Experience with CI/CD and DevOps concepts (a bonus!)
- Understanding of information architecture concepts and documentation governance in line with global external standards (a bonus!)
- Sales focus in previous roles and experience closing deals beyond the sales team if needed (a bonus!)
